At least 12 Indian nationals were killed in a devastating explosion at a factory in Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, officials confirmed on Monday.
The tragedy has left families in India grieving and prompted the Indian government to coordinate closely with Qatari authorities to assist those affected.
In a statement posted on X, the Indian Embassy in Doha said that Qatari authorities had confirmed the deaths of 12 Indian citizens in the incident that occurred on Sunday night.
“Qatari authorities have confirmed that 12 Indian nationals have unfortunately passed away in the Ras Laffan incident yesterday night.
We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls,” the embassy said.
Officials also confirmed that all those injured in the explosion are in stable condition and are receiving appropriate medical treatment at local healthcare facilities.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the explosion.
The Indian Embassy said it is in constant touch with Qatari authorities and is extending all possible assistance to the affected Indian nationals and their families during this difficult time.
The embassy further stated that efforts are underway to facilitate the early repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased to India.
Officials are also assisting family members and coordinating necessary procedures to ensure that support reaches those impacted by the tragedy as quickly as possible.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by migrant workers employed in industrial facilities abroad and has triggered an outpouring of condolences for the victims and their families.

दूतावास ने अपने बयान में कहा, “कतर के अधिकारियों ने पुष्टि की है कि रस लफ्फान में कल रात हुई घटना में 12 भारतीय नागरिकों का दुखद निधन हो गया है। हम शोक संतप्त परिवारों के प्रति अपनी गहरी संवेदनाएं व्यक्त करते हैं और दिवंगत आत्माओं की शांति के लिए प्रार्थना करते हैं।”
अधिकारियों ने यह भी बताया कि विस्फोट में घायल हुए सभी लोगों की हालत फिलहाल स्थिर है और उन्हें उचित चिकित्सा सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई जा रही है। हालांकि, विस्फोट के कारणों का अभी तक आधिकारिक रूप से खुलासा नहीं किया गया है।
भारतीय दूतावास ने कहा कि वह कतर प्रशासन के साथ लगातार संपर्क में है और प्रभावित भारतीय नागरिकों तथा उनके परिवारों को हरसंभव सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए सक्रिय रूप से काम कर रहा है।
दूतावास ने यह भी बताया कि मृतकों के पार्थिव शरीर को जल्द से जल्द भारत भेजने की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी गई है। इसके अलावा, प्रभावित परिवारों को आवश्यक सहायता उपलब्ध कराने और औपचारिकताओं को पूरा करने के लिए भी हरसंभव सहयोग किया जा रहा है।
