Jaipur Woman Arrested Over Alleged Anti-National Online Activities

Rajasthan’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Monday announced the arrest of a woman, approximately 30 years old, from Jaipur on allegations of engaging in activities deemed prejudicial to national security through online platforms.

Investigators also claim that she was in contact with individuals allegedly associated with the proscribed terrorist organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

According to ATS officials, the woman, identified as Babita, originally belongs to Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district and had been residing in an area on the outskirts of Jaipur.

Her online behaviour reportedly came under scrutiny after authorities noticed what they described as suspicious digital activity.

Suspicious Online Footprint Triggered Investigation

Officials said the case first came to light when intelligence units detected unusual activity linked to the woman’s online accounts.

As investigators began examining her digital footprint more closely, they allegedly found indications that she was participating in activities that could potentially threaten national interests.

The authorities subsequently initiated a detailed inquiry to understand the nature of her online interactions and identify the people with whom she had been communicating.

ATS Claims Woman Was in Contact With Foreign Individuals

Speaking about the investigation, ATS Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi said preliminary findings suggested that Babita had been in communication with certain foreign nationals who, according to investigators, were working against India’s sovereignty and national interests.

The officer alleged that these individuals were attempting to obtain information through her and intended to use such information to promote terrorist activities in India.

According to Tripathi, the woman had maintained regular communication with these persons and had also expressed a desire to meet them.

Investigators suspect that the proposed meetings may have involved travel to countries such as Pakistan and certain nations in the Middle East.

Case Registered Under UAPA

Based on the findings gathered during the preliminary inquiry, an FIR was registered on June 20 under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Officials said the registration of the case marked the beginning of a wider investigation into the nature of the alleged network and the extent of the woman’s involvement.

Probe Focuses on Accounts Linked to Pakistan and Jaish-e-Mohammed

The ATS Superintendent of Police said investigators are continuing to examine the social media accounts and digital profiles with which Babita had allegedly been interacting.

He stated that, according to the information collected so far, the persons operating those accounts were allegedly connected to Pakistan and had links with the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.

The officer also said investigators are examining another aspect of the case—whether the woman herself had been manipulated or influenced by the individuals operating those accounts and whether attempts were being made to persuade her to change her religion.

Investigation at Preliminary Stage

Police emphasised that the inquiry is still in its initial phase and several aspects of the case are yet to be fully established.

According to investigators, there are indications that the people communicating with the woman intended to influence her religious beliefs and simultaneously exploit information obtained through her for activities that could potentially threaten security interests within the country.

Officials said these claims are presently being verified through the examination of digital evidence and communication records.

Family Was Unaware of Activities, Say Officials

Investigators said preliminary inquiries suggest that Babita had allegedly been in touch with the concerned individuals for the past six to seven months.

However, officials claimed that her family members were completely unaware of her online interactions and the nature of her communications.

Police also said that the woman had previously been married but is presently living separately from her husband.

Seven-Day Police Custody Granted

Investigators said they intend to question Babita in detail regarding the information she may have shared, her intentions, future plans and the objectives behind her interactions.

Officials are also planning an extensive analysis of her digital history, including social media activity, communication records and electronic devices.

According to investigators, some data was allegedly deleted from her digital accounts and devices. Efforts are now underway to retrieve and examine that information.

A court has remanded the woman to seven days of police custody, during which investigators are expected to continue questioning her and analysing electronic evidence to determine the full extent of the alleged activities and possible links with foreign entities.

कथित राष्ट्रविरोधी ऑनलाइन गतिविधियों के आरोप में जयपुर की महिला गिरफ्तार

राजस्थान की आतंकवाद निरोधी दस्ता (एटीएस) ने सोमवार को जयपुर से करीब 30 वर्षीय एक महिला को गिरफ्तार करने की जानकारी दी। महिला पर सोशल मीडिया और अन्य डिजिटल मंचों के माध्यम से कथित रूप से राष्ट्रविरोधी गतिविधियों में संलिप्त रहने तथा प्रतिबंधित आतंकवादी संगठन जैश-ए-मोहम्मद (जेईएम) से जुड़े व्यक्तियों के संपर्क में रहने के आरोप लगाए गए हैं।

अधिकारियों के अनुसार, महिला की पहचान बबीता के रूप में हुई है, जो मूल रूप से सवाई माधोपुर जिले की रहने वाली है और पिछले कुछ समय से जयपुर के बाहरी क्षेत्र में रह रही थी। उसकी कुछ ऑनलाइन गतिविधियां जांच एजेंसियों के संज्ञान में आने के बाद मामला सामने आया।

संदिग्ध डिजिटल गतिविधियों ने खींचा जांच एजेंसियों का ध्यान

एटीएस अधिकारियों ने बताया कि शुरुआती स्तर पर महिला की ऑनलाइन गतिविधियों में कुछ ऐसे संकेत मिले जिन्हें संदिग्ध माना गया। इसके बाद जब जांचकर्ताओं ने उसकी डिजिटल मौजूदगी और ऑनलाइन संपर्कों की गहन पड़ताल शुरू की, तो कथित तौर पर ऐसे तथ्य सामने आए, जिनसे राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के खिलाफ गतिविधियों में संलिप्तता की आशंका व्यक्त की गई।

इसके बाद एजेंसियों ने उसके सोशल मीडिया संपर्कों, संवाद और इंटरनेट गतिविधियों की विस्तृत जांच शुरू की, ताकि यह पता लगाया जा सके कि वह किन लोगों से जुड़ी हुई थी और इन संपर्कों का उद्देश्य क्या था।

विदेशी नागरिकों से संपर्क में होने का दावा

मामले पर जानकारी देते हुए एटीएस के पुलिस अधीक्षक मनीष त्रिपाठी ने कहा कि प्रारंभिक जांच में यह संकेत मिले हैं कि बबीता कुछ ऐसे विदेशी नागरिकों के संपर्क में थी, जो कथित रूप से भारत की संप्रभुता और राष्ट्रीय हितों के खिलाफ गतिविधियों में संलग्न थे।

उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि ये लोग महिला के माध्यम से विभिन्न प्रकार की जानकारियां प्राप्त करने का प्रयास कर रहे थे और उन सूचनाओं का उपयोग भारत में आतंकवादी गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए किया जा सकता था।

पुलिस अधिकारी के अनुसार, महिला इन व्यक्तियों के साथ लगातार संपर्क में थी और उनसे मिलने की इच्छा भी व्यक्त कर चुकी थी। जांच एजेंसियों को संदेह है कि इसके लिए पाकिस्तान और मध्य-पूर्व के कुछ देशों की यात्रा की योजना भी हो सकती थी।

यूएपीए के तहत मामला दर्ज

प्रारंभिक जांच में मिले तथ्यों के आधार पर 20 जून को महिला के खिलाफ गैर-कानूनी गतिविधियां (रोकथाम) अधिनियम यानी यूएपीए के प्रावधानों के तहत प्राथमिकी दर्ज की गई।

अधिकारियों का कहना है कि यह मामला केवल एक व्यक्ति की गतिविधियों तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि इसके पीछे संभावित नेटवर्क और संपर्कों की भी व्यापक जांच की जा रही है।

पाकिस्तान और जैश-ए-मोहम्मद से जुड़े खातों की जांच

एटीएस के पुलिस अधीक्षक ने बताया कि जांचकर्ता उन सोशल मीडिया खातों और डिजिटल प्रोफाइल की जांच कर रहे हैं, जिनके साथ महिला कथित रूप से संपर्क में थी।

उन्होंने कहा कि अब तक उपलब्ध सूचनाओं के आधार पर इन खातों के संचालकों के पाकिस्तान से जुड़े होने तथा प्रतिबंधित संगठन जैश-ए-मोहम्मद से संबंध होने के संकेत मिले हैं।

अधिकारी ने यह भी कहा कि जांच एजेंसियां इस पहलू की भी पड़ताल कर रही हैं कि कहीं महिला स्वयं इन लोगों के प्रभाव में तो नहीं आ गई थी और क्या उसे धार्मिक परिवर्तन के लिए प्रेरित या प्रभावित करने की कोशिश की जा रही थी।

जांच अभी प्रारंभिक चरण में

पुलिस ने स्पष्ट किया है कि जांच अभी शुरुआती दौर में है और कई महत्वपूर्ण तथ्यों की पुष्टि होना बाकी है।

जांचकर्ताओं का कहना है कि अब तक मिले संकेतों से यह प्रतीत होता है कि महिला के संपर्क में रहने वाले लोग न केवल उसके धार्मिक विचारों को प्रभावित करना चाहते थे, बल्कि उसके माध्यम से प्राप्त सूचनाओं का उपयोग देश के भीतर विभिन्न गतिविधियों के लिए भी करना चाहते थे।

हालांकि, इन दावों की पुष्टि के लिए डिजिटल साक्ष्यों और संवाद रिकॉर्ड की गहन जांच की जा रही है।

परिवार को कथित गतिविधियों की जानकारी नहीं थी

अधिकारियों के अनुसार, प्रारंभिक जांच से पता चलता है कि बबीता पिछले छह से सात महीनों से इन लोगों के संपर्क में थी।

हालांकि, पुलिस का दावा है कि उसके परिवार के किसी सदस्य को उसकी ऑनलाइन गतिविधियों या इन संपर्कों के बारे में कोई जानकारी नहीं थी।

पुलिस ने यह भी बताया कि महिला का विवाह हो चुका था, लेकिन वर्तमान में वह अपने पति से अलग रह रही है।

सात दिन की पुलिस हिरासत में भेजी गई महिला

जांच एजेंसियों ने कहा कि वे बबीता से विस्तार से पूछताछ करेंगी, ताकि यह पता लगाया जा सके कि उसने कौन-कौन सी जानकारियां साझा कीं, उसकी मंशा क्या थी, उसके भविष्य की योजनाएं क्या थीं और इन संपर्कों के पीछे वास्तविक उद्देश्य क्या था।

इसके साथ ही उसके डिजिटल इतिहास, सोशल मीडिया गतिविधियों, संचार रिकॉर्ड और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरणों का विस्तृत फॉरेंसिक विश्लेषण भी किया जाएगा।

जांचकर्ताओं का दावा है कि महिला ने कथित रूप से अपने कुछ डिजिटल डेटा को मिटाने का प्रयास किया था। अब एजेंसियां उस हटाई गई जानकारी को पुनर्प्राप्त कर उसकी जांच करने में जुटी हैं।

अदालत ने महिला को सात दिनों की पुलिस हिरासत में भेज दिया है। इस दौरान जांच एजेंसियां उससे गहन पूछताछ करेंगी और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक साक्ष्यों का विश्लेषण कर यह पता लगाने का प्रयास करेंगी कि कथित गतिविधियों का वास्तविक दायरा क्या था और विदेशी तत्वों से उसके संबंध किस स्तर तक जुड़े हुए थे।
