Ram Temple Donation Theft Row: Former Union Home Secretary Alleges ₹5 Crore Golden Ramcharitmanas Has Gone Missing
Fresh controversy has surfaced over the alleged donation theft at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya after former Union Home Secretary Lakshmi Narayan levelled serious allegations against the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
He claimed that a specially crafted golden Ramcharitmanas, estimated to be worth nearly ₹5 crore, was donated to the Trust, but no official receipt acknowledging the donation was ever issued.
According to him, the priceless religious manuscript later went missing from the temple premises.
Lakshmi Narayan, a former IAS officer who also runs a YouTube channel, said he personally handed over the seven-quintal special edition of the Shri Ramcharitmanas to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on April 8, 2024.
He stated that nearly 1,000 pages of the manuscript were adorned with gold, giving it an estimated value of around ₹5 crore.
He further alleged that after reaching Ayodhya, he had to wait for nearly three hours before meeting Trust General Secretary Champat Rai to present the sacred manuscript.
Lakshmi Narayan said he had folded his hands and earnestly requested that the Ramcharitmanas, created through years of dedication and life’s savings, be preserved safely within the temple.
However, he now claims that the invaluable offering has disappeared, raising serious concerns over its whereabouts.
According to Lakshmi Narayan, Trust representatives informed him that the temple regularly receives offerings and valuable gifts from countless devotees, making it difficult to immediately verify every donation.
However, the former IAS officer said he returned after nearly three to four months to inquire about the status of the golden Ramcharitmanas, only to discover that no information about it was available and the sacred manuscript could not be located inside the temple.
Seeking answers, he contacted Nripendra Misra, Chairman of the Temple Construction Committee, and Trust member Gopal Rao, hoping the matter would be resolved. Despite repeated attempts, he claimed that he did not receive any satisfactory response.
Lakshmi Narayan said he subsequently approached Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, but even then, no clear explanation was provided regarding the missing Ramcharitmanas.
Maintaining that the issue deserved a thorough inquiry, Lakshmi Narayan stated that he formally requested a detailed investigation into the matter.
He added that he has also written to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), urging the agency to look into the alleged disappearance of the priceless religious manuscript.

अयोध्या के राम मंदिर में कथित चढ़ावा चोरी प्रकरण को लेकर एक नया विवाद सामने आया है। पूर्व केंद्रीय गृह सचिव लक्ष्मी नारायण ने श्रीराम जन्मभूमि तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट पर गंभीर आरोप लगाते हुए दावा किया कि लगभग पांच करोड़ रुपये मूल्य की विशेष स्वर्ण रामचरितमानस ट्रस्ट को भेंट की गई थी, लेकिन आज तक उस दान की कोई आधिकारिक रसीद जारी नहीं की गई।
उनका आरोप है कि बाद में यह अमूल्य धार्मिक ग्रंथ मंदिर परिसर से ही गायब हो गया।
पूर्व आईएएस अधिकारी और यूट्यूब चैनल संचालक लक्ष्मी नारायण के अनुसार, उन्होंने 8 अप्रैल 2024 को लगभग सात क्विंटल वजनी विशेष स्वर्ण रामचरितमानस स्वयं श्रीराम जन्मभूमि तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट को सौंपी थी।
उन्होंने बताया कि इस ग्रंथ के करीब एक हजार पृष्ठों पर स्वर्ण का कार्य किया गया था, जिसके कारण इसकी अनुमानित कीमत लगभग पांच करोड़ रुपये आंकी गई थी।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि अयोध्या पहुंचने के बाद उन्हें इस पवित्र ग्रंथ को ट्रस्ट के महासचिव चंपत राय को सौंपने के लिए लगभग तीन घंटे तक इंतजार करना पड़ा। लक्ष्मी नारायण के अनुसार, उन्होंने हाथ जोड़कर आग्रह किया था कि वर्षों की साधना और जीवनभर की कमाई से तैयार कराई गई इस बहुमूल्य रामचरितमानस को मंदिर में सुरक्षित रखा जाए।
अब उनका दावा है कि यह अमूल्य भेंट मंदिर परिसर से लापता हो चुकी है, जिससे इसके संरक्षण और सुरक्षा को लेकर गंभीर सवाल खड़े हो गए हैं।
लक्ष्मी नारायण के अनुसार, ट्रस्ट की ओर से उन्हें बताया गया कि मंदिर में प्रतिदिन बड़ी संख्या में श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा आभूषण और अन्य बहुमूल्य भेंट अर्पित की जाती हैं, इसलिए प्रत्येक वस्तु का तत्काल सत्यापन कर पाना संभव नहीं होता।
हालांकि, पूर्व आईएएस अधिकारी का कहना है कि करीब तीन से चार महीने बाद जब उन्होंने स्वर्ण रामचरितमानस के बारे में जानकारी लेनी चाही, तो उन्हें बताया गया कि मंदिर में उसके संबंध में कोई जानकारी उपलब्ध नहीं है और वह ग्रंथ वहां नहीं मिल रहा है।
इसके बाद उन्होंने समाधान की उम्मीद में मंदिर निर्माण समिति के अध्यक्ष नृपेंद्र मिश्र और ट्रस्ट सदस्य गोपाल राव से संपर्क किया। उनका कहना है कि कई प्रयासों के बावजूद उन्हें कोई संतोषजनक उत्तर नहीं मिला।
लक्ष्मी नारायण ने बताया कि उन्होंने ट्रस्ट के महासचिव चंपत राय से भी दोबारा मुलाकात की, लेकिन वहां से भी इस मामले पर कोई स्पष्ट जवाब नहीं दिया गया।
मामले को गंभीर बताते हुए लक्ष्मी नारायण ने इसकी निष्पक्ष और विस्तृत जांच कराने की मांग की। उन्होंने कहा कि इस संबंध में उन्होंने प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ईडी) को भी पत्र लिखकर कथित रूप से लापता हुई इस बहुमूल्य धार्मिक धरोहर की जांच कराने का अनुरोध किया है।
