While taking cognizance of a report published in a section of the press about missing toilet doors and a resident doctors’ room converted into storerooms at the SRN hospital and Medical College Allahabad, the Allahabad High Court has directed the principal secretary of health and education to file his reply.

The court has directed the health secretary to file his affidavit and specify about the number of duty rooms of doctors and nurses at the Swarup Rani Nehru hospital under the age of Medical College in Allahabad.
Earlier, the high court had taken serious note after it came to its notice that rodents were a menace in every ward of this hospital and stray dogs roam around freely in and out of wards, Verandah, and where they feel like.
One can find them outside the emergency and even operation theatres.
Doctors and nursing staff including others work under inhuman and unhygienic conditions at the SRN Hospital which has a good team of doctors heading various departments.
All doctors are good specialists with international-level skills in most cases but all their capabilities get slowed in the absence of a great number of irregularities and mismanagement in this hospital.
There is hardly any administrative control or work culture. The OPDs where senior doctors attend to patients are so crowded that the HoD attends to over three hundred patients in one sitting.
