Sanskrit Week Celebrated at St. Columbus Group of Schools, Salori With Shloka Recitations and Speeches
Students From Classes 2 to 8 Showcase Sanskrit Skills Through Poetry, Self-Introductions and Cultural Presentations
PRAYAGRAJ: The Salori branch of St. Columbus Group of Schools witnessed a week-long celebration of Sanskrit, with students from Classes 2 to 8 taking part in a range of presentations designed to encourage appreciation for one of India’s oldest classical languages.
The programme brought Sanskrit beyond the boundaries of routine classroom learning, allowing students to speak, recite and present in the language before their teachers and fellow students.
Shloka recitations, Sanskrit self-introductions, speeches and poetry presentations formed the main highlights of the celebration.
Students from different classes participated enthusiastically throughout the week.
From Class 2, Aniruddh Yadav and Lucky Singh took part in the presentations, while Shlok, Avira, Harsh and Aaryashi represented Class 3.
Anshik Verma of Class 4 presented his self-introduction in Sanskrit, demonstrating how the language can be introduced to young learners through simple and practical communication.
Students from the subsequent classes also contributed to the programme, with Pari Paridhihi representing Class 5.
From Class 6, Aryan Yadav and Arnav Gupta participated in the Sanskrit presentations.
Class 7 student Anshik Yadav impressed the audience with the recitation of Sanskrit shlokas, bringing rhythm and traditional literary expression to the programme.
The Class 8 participants added further variety to the celebration.
Anshik Dwivedi and Anshika Pandey presented speeches and shlokas and demonstrated their engagement with Sanskrit through their performances, drawing appreciation from those present.
The week-long initiative also highlighted the continuing relevance of Sanskrit in education.
Often associated with ancient scriptures, classical literature and traditional learning, Sanskrit has played a foundational role in the development of India’s intellectual and cultural traditions.
A vast body of philosophical, literary, scientific and linguistic knowledge has been preserved through the language.
For students, exposure to Sanskrit can also provide a direct connection with India’s classical literary heritage.
Shlokas and poetry introduce learners not only to vocabulary and pronunciation but also to the distinctive rhythm, structure and expressive character of the language.
The school leadership emphasised that the significance of Sanskrit extends beyond its antiquity.
Principal Geeta Chauhan said Sanskrit represents India’s culture, heritage and identity and stressed that preserving and promoting the language is a collective responsibility.
The participation of students from Classes 2 through 8 gave the celebration a wider educational dimension, showing that interest in Sanskrit can be cultivated from the early years of schooling.
Activities involving speaking and recitation also provide children with an opportunity to approach the language in an engaging manner rather than limiting their exposure to textbooks.
The successful conduct of the programme was supported by the school’s Sanskrit teachers—Mamta Malviya, Nazneen Shafiq and Mona Juyal.
Their guidance and preparation helped students participate confidently in the various activities.
School coordinators Alisha Pandit and Priyanka Chaturvedi were also present along with teachers during the programme.
Their participation reflected the school’s effort to make language learning a collective educational experience.
The Sanskrit Week celebration ultimately served as a reminder that preserving a classical language does not necessarily mean confining it to the past.
Through classroom activities, recitation, public speaking, and creative expression, students can discover ways of keeping Sanskrit connected with contemporary education while developing an appreciation for India’s linguistic and cultural inheritance.

प्रयागराज: सेंट कोलंबस ग्रुप ऑफ स्कूल्स की सलोरी शाखा में संस्कृत सप्ताह उत्साह और विविध शैक्षिक गतिविधियों के साथ मनाया गया।
सप्ताहभर चले इस आयोजन में कक्षा 2 से कक्षा 8 तक के विद्यार्थियों ने संस्कृत भाषा के प्रति अपनी रुचि और सम्मान को अलग-अलग प्रस्तुतियों के माध्यम से व्यक्त किया।
कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों को संस्कृत से केवल पाठ्यपुस्तक के विषय के रूप में परिचित कराना नहीं, बल्कि उन्हें इसके उच्चारण, अभिव्यक्ति और साहित्यिक परंपरा से जोड़ना भी रहा।
विद्यार्थियों ने संस्कृत में श्लोक पाठ, आत्मपरिचय, भाषण और कविता प्रस्तुत कर अपनी प्रतिभा का प्रदर्शन किया।
कक्षा 2 के अनिरुद्ध यादव और लकी सिंह ने कार्यक्रम में सहभागिता की। कक्षा 3 की ओर से श्लोक, अवीरा, हर्ष और आर्याशी ने अपनी प्रस्तुतियां दीं।
कम उम्र के विद्यार्थियों की भागीदारी ने यह संदेश दिया कि संस्कृत के प्रति रुचि का विकास प्रारंभिक कक्षाओं से ही किया जा सकता है।
कक्षा 4 के छात्र अंशिक वर्मा ने संस्कृत में अपना आत्मपरिचय प्रस्तुत किया। इस तरह की गतिविधियां बच्चों को संस्कृत के सरल वाक्यों और दैनिक अभिव्यक्ति से जोड़ने का अवसर देती हैं और भाषा को केवल रटने के बजाय बोलने-समझने की दिशा में प्रेरित करती हैं।
कक्षा 5 की ओर से परी परिधि ने सहभागिता की। वहीं कक्षा 6 के आर्यन यादव और अर्नव गुप्ता ने संस्कृत आधारित प्रस्तुतियों में हिस्सा लिया।
कक्षा 7 के अंशिक यादव ने मधुर श्लोकों का पाठ किया।
उनकी प्रस्तुति में श्लोकों की लय और संस्कृत के पारंपरिक उच्चारण की झलक देखने को मिली।
कक्षा 8 से अंशिक द्विवेदी और अंशिका पांडेय ने भाषण तथा श्लोक पाठ सहित संस्कृत से जुड़ी प्रस्तुतियां देकर कार्यक्रम को और प्रभावी बनाया।
संस्कृत सप्ताह का महत्व केवल विद्यालयी आयोजन तक सीमित नहीं रहा। संस्कृत भारतीय सभ्यता की उस समृद्ध ज्ञान-परंपरा से जुड़ी भाषा है, जिसमें दर्शन, साहित्य, व्याकरण, अध्यात्म और विभिन्न ज्ञान-विषयों से संबंधित विशाल साहित्य उपलब्ध है।
भारतीय भाषाओं और सांस्कृतिक परंपराओं के विकास को समझने में भी संस्कृत का विशेष स्थान है।
श्लोक और काव्य के माध्यम से विद्यार्थियों को संस्कृत की ध्वनि, लय और भाषिक संरचना को अनुभव करने का अवसर मिलता है।
वहीं संस्कृत में आत्मपरिचय और भाषण जैसी गतिविधियां यह समझ विकसित करती हैं कि यह भाषा केवल प्राचीन ग्रंथों तक सीमित नहीं, बल्कि सीखने और अभिव्यक्ति के माध्यम के रूप में भी प्रयोग की जा सकती है।
विद्यालय की प्रधानाचार्या गीता चौहान ने संस्कृत के महत्व पर विचार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि संस्कृत भारत की प्राचीन भाषा होने के साथ-साथ देश की संस्कृति, विरासत और पहचान का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है।
उन्होंने इसके संरक्षण और प्रसार को सभी की सामूहिक जिम्मेदारी बताया।
उन्होंने इस बात पर भी जोर दिया कि नई पीढ़ी को अपनी भाषाई और सांस्कृतिक जड़ों से जोड़ने में विद्यालयों की भूमिका महत्वपूर्ण है।
विद्यार्थियों को संस्कृत के साथ रचनात्मक तरीके से जोड़ने वाले कार्यक्रम इस दिशा में उपयोगी साबित हो सकते हैं।
कार्यक्रम को सफल बनाने में विद्यालय की संस्कृत शिक्षिकाओं ममता मालवीय, नाजनीन शफीक और मोना जूयल का महत्वपूर्ण योगदान रहा।
उन्होंने विद्यार्थियों को विभिन्न प्रस्तुतियों की तैयारी में मार्गदर्शन दिया और उन्हें मंच पर आत्मविश्वास के साथ अपनी प्रतिभा दिखाने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया।
इस अवसर पर समन्वयक अलीशा पंडित और प्रियंका चतुर्वेदी के साथ विद्यालय के शिक्षक-शिक्षिकाएं भी उपस्थित रहे।
संस्कृत सप्ताह का आयोजन इस विचार को मजबूत करता नजर आया कि किसी शास्त्रीय भाषा को जीवंत बनाए रखने के लिए उसे केवल इतिहास के पन्नों में सुरक्षित रखना पर्याप्त नहीं है।
जब बच्चे उसे बोलते हैं, श्लोक पढ़ते हैं, कविता प्रस्तुत करते हैं और उसके माध्यम से अपनी बात रखते हैं, तो भाषा नई पीढ़ी के अनुभव का हिस्सा बनती है।
ऐसे आयोजन विद्यार्थियों में अपनी भाषाई विरासत के प्रति समझ, सम्मान और जुड़ाव विकसित करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा सकते हैं।
