Ankara: Turkey witnessed another tragic school shooting on Wednesday, just a day after a separate gun attack at an educational institution left several people injured.
The latest incident occurred at Ayser Calık Secondary School in Kahramanmaras, raising fresh concerns over campus safety and gun violence.
According to an official statement issued by Kahramanmaras Governor Mukerrem Unluer, nine people lost their lives in the attack, including three students and one teacher.
Nearly 20 others sustained injuries of varying severity and were shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Preliminary information indicates that the suspected gunman was an eighth-grade student enrolled at the same school.
Officials said the teenager allegedly brought firearms belonging to his father, hiding the weapons inside a backpack before the assault on the campus.
Governor Unluer also confirmed that the student accused of carrying out the shooting died during the incident.
Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack and the sequence of events that led to the fatalities.
Emergency response teams, ambulances and medical personnel were rushed to the school immediately after reports of the shooting were received.
The injured were provided urgent medical assistance while rescue operations continued at the scene.
Investigators said efforts are underway to establish all aspects of the case, while officials have not yet released complete details regarding the identity and background of the attacker.
The area has been sealed off, with security personnel maintaining a strong presence as forensic teams conduct their examination.
The latest incident marks the second school shooting reported in Turkey within a span of two days, intensifying concerns over security in educational institutions.
On Tuesday, another shooting took place at a vocational high school in the Siverek district of Sanliurfa province, where a 17-year-old former student allegedly opened fire with a shotgun on the school premises.
That attack left 16 people injured, the majority of them students. Governor Hasan Sildak stated that the accused later died by suicide after using the same firearm on himself.
Officials identified the deceased suspect as a former student born in 2007. Local media reports suggested that he had reportedly been involved in an argument with a friend before arriving at the school carrying the weapon.
Eyewitnesses told local media that the teenager entered the school compound and allegedly began firing indiscriminately, triggering panic among students, teachers and staff members present on the campus.
According to the Turkish Interior Ministry, those injured in Tuesday’s shooting included ten students, four teachers, one police officer and a school canteen operator.
Authorities are investigating both incidents separately while reviewing security arrangements at educational institutions across the country.

इसके अलावा लगभग 20 लोग घायल हुए हैं, जिन्हें विभिन्न अस्पतालों में भर्ती कराकर उपचार उपलब्ध कराया जा रहा है।
प्रारंभिक जांच के अनुसार, हमले का आरोपी उसी विद्यालय का आठवीं कक्षा का छात्र था। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि उसने अपने पिता के हथियार बैग में छिपाकर स्कूल पहुंचाए और बाद में परिसर के भीतर हमला किया।
गवर्नर ने यह भी पुष्टि की कि घटना के दौरान आरोपी छात्र की भी मृत्यु हो गई।
पुलिस और अन्य जांच एजेंसियां पूरे घटनाक्रम की विस्तृत जांच कर रही हैं ताकि हमले के कारणों और घटनाक्रम की पूरी तस्वीर सामने लाई जा सके।

मंगलवार को भी शानलिउर्फा प्रांत के सिवेरेक जिले स्थित एक व्यावसायिक उच्च विद्यालय में गोलीबारी हुई थी। इस मामले में 17 वर्षीय पूर्व छात्र पर परिसर में शॉटगन से फायरिंग करने का आरोप लगा था।
उस घटना में कुल 16 लोग घायल हुए थे, जिनमें अधिकांश छात्र थे। गवर्नर हसन सिलदाक ने बताया था कि हमले के बाद आरोपी ने उसी हथियार से स्वयं को गोली मारकर आत्महत्या कर ली।
प्रशासन के अनुसार, आरोपी वर्ष 2007 में जन्मा विद्यालय का पूर्व छात्र था। स्थानीय मीडिया रिपोर्टों में दावा किया गया कि स्कूल पहुंचने से पहले उसका अपने एक परिचित के साथ विवाद हुआ था।
प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के अनुसार, युवक विद्यालय परिसर में प्रवेश करने के बाद अंधाधुंध फायरिंग करने लगा, जिससे छात्रों, शिक्षकों और कर्मचारियों के बीच अफरा-तफरी मच गई।
तुर्किये के गृह मंत्रालय के आधिकारिक आंकड़ों के अनुसार, मंगलवार की घटना में घायल होने वालों में 10 छात्र, चार शिक्षक, एक पुलिसकर्मी और विद्यालय की कैंटीन संचालक शामिल थे।
