As per the preliminary information provided by the company engaged in the construction work, it is estimated that between six to eight workers may be trapped inside the collapsed tunnel.

A senior police official speaking to PTI elaborated on the incident, explaining that it occurred when a group of workers had entered the tunnel to carry out their assigned tasks. His office assured that every effort is being made to ensure the safe retrieval of those feared trapped within the collapsed section of the structure.

Additionally, following the Chief Minister’s directives, state Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with government adviser on irrigation Adityanath Das and other key officials from the irrigation department, have been dispatched to the accident site via a special helicopter to oversee and coordinate the rescue operations firsthand.

Meanwhile, Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy has also expressed deep concern over the unfortunate accident. He has reached out to relevant authorities to ascertain the cause of the collapse and has urged officials to expedite rescue operations to bring those trapped to safety. Furthermore, he has directed that immediate medical treatment be provided to any injured individuals, ensuring that necessary care and assistance are made available without delay.
