Trump Claims Iran Peace Framework Reached, Puts Military Action on Hold Amid Push for Hormuz Reopening
Washington: US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that a broad framework for peace with Iran had been reached, prompting his administration to suspend plans for fresh military action.
He indicated that ongoing diplomatic efforts had produced enough progress to justify delaying any further strikes while negotiations continued.
In a message posted on his social media platform, Trump said the proposed understanding envisaged the immediate and unrestricted reopening of the Strait of Hormuz along with a complete end to what he described as Iran’s nuclear threat.
He suggested that these commitments formed the central pillars of the emerging agreement.
According to the US President, Iran, along with several countries in West Asia, had urged Washington to refrain from launching another attack after broad parameters of the proposed settlement were worked out.
He maintained that the United States had agreed to pause military operations to provide an opportunity for diplomacy to succeed.
The announcement comes after weeks of escalating hostilities in which American strikes on Iranian targets were followed by retaliatory attacks from Tehran against US military installations and assets in the Gulf region, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
Trump said he decided to cancel the planned operation after receiving requests from Tehran and regional partners, adding that Iran’s long-term stability and economic prosperity depended on reaching an agreement without further delay.
He stressed that diplomacy now offered the best opportunity to restore regional peace.
The US President also disclosed that Israel had agreed to work alongside Washington in efforts to finalise the proposed understanding with Iran, expressing hope that the initiative would ultimately bring the ongoing conflict to an end and reduce tensions across the region.
No official confirmation of Trump’s statement was immediately issued by Tehran.
At the same time, the commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters called upon countries across the Middle East to reassess their strategic relationship with the United States amid the continuing crisis.
Meanwhile, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly conveyed his concerns over the possibility of further American military escalation during a telephone conversation with President Trump.
The discussion reportedly focused on the growing risks of a broader regional confrontation.
Concerns have also intensified over the security of energy infrastructure in the Gulf.
Regional leaders are understood to be worried that any large-scale attack on Iran’s oil or strategic facilities could trigger retaliatory strikes against energy installations in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring Gulf countries, potentially disrupting global energy supplies.
Amid the uncertain security environment, the US State Department has advised American citizens in the Middle East to consider leaving the region or remain prepared for immediate departure should the situation deteriorate further.
The advisory also warned of possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace restrictions and significant disruptions to international travel.

अपने सोशल मीडिया मंच पर जारी संदेश में ट्रंप ने कहा कि प्रस्तावित समझौते में होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य को तत्काल, पूर्ण और निर्बाध रूप से खोलने के साथ-साथ ईरान के परमाणु खतरे को पूरी तरह समाप्त करने का प्रावधान शामिल है।

अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि ईरान तथा पश्चिम एशिया के कई देशों ने वॉशिंगटन से सैन्य कार्रवाई रोकने का अनुरोध किया था, क्योंकि समझौते के व्यापक प्रारूप पर सहमति बन चुकी है।

उधर, सऊदी अरब के क्राउन प्रिंस मोहम्मद बिन सलमान ने कथित तौर पर राष्ट्रपति ट्रंप से टेलीफोन पर बातचीत के दौरान क्षेत्र में अमेरिकी सैन्य कार्रवाई और उसके संभावित विस्तार को लेकर अपनी चिंता व्यक्त की।
दोनों नेताओं के बीच क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा और तनाव कम करने के उपायों पर चर्चा हुई।
क्षेत्रीय देशों में इस बात की भी आशंका बढ़ गई है कि यदि अमेरिका ईरान के ऊर्जा प्रतिष्ठानों या अन्य महत्वपूर्ण बुनियादी ढांचे पर व्यापक हमला करता है तो तेहरान जवाबी कार्रवाई करते हुए सऊदी अरब और अन्य खाड़ी देशों के ऊर्जा ढांचे को निशाना बना सकता है।
