UP Man Arrested for Allegedly Framing Ex-Fiancée’s Brother in Fake Bomb Threat Against CM Yogi Adityanath

Shahjahabpur/ Mau Aima: A failed matrimonial alliance allegedly triggered a shocking act of revenge in Uttar Pradesh, where a young man was arrested for reportedly creating a fake social media account in the name of his former fiancée’s brother and posting a bomb threat against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The incident created panic within the police department after threatening messages claiming the Chief Minister would be blown up were circulated on social media platforms and WhatsApp groups.

Investigators later discovered that the accused had allegedly attempted to frame the woman’s brother by using his identity and mobile number in the fake online account.

The accused, identified as Nitesh Katiyar, a sanitation worker from Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur district, was arrested by Prayagraj Police with the assistance of the cyber cell. He has since been sent to jail.

Relationship arranged through a matrimonial site

According to police officials, the matter began with a matrimonial arrangement initiated through an online marriage portal.

Pawan Kumar Chaurasia, a resident of Baraipur village in Prayagraj, had reportedly created a matrimonial profile for his sister, who serves as a constable in the Uttar Pradesh Police.

Some time ago, Nitesh Katiyar contacted the family through the matrimonial platform and introduced himself as an employee associated with the municipal corporation. After discussions between the two families, the marriage proposal was finalized.

Police said the engagement ceremony between Nitesh and Pawan’s sister also took place in Ghaziabad.

However, as communication between the families increased, disputes allegedly began to emerge over certain issues, eventually leading to the breakdown of the alliance.

Abuse complaints and an alleged revenge plot

According to investigators, after the engagement was called off, tensions between the two sides escalated sharply.

Police said Nitesh allegedly began abusing and harassing Pawan Kumar Chaurasia online, using offensive language and threatening messages.

The matter reportedly reached the cyber police, after which Nitesh submitted a written apology on April 28.

Officials believe that despite the apology, the accused remained angry over the broken relationship and began planning revenge against Pawan and his family.

Investigators allege that Nitesh then created a fake social media account using Pawan Kumar Chaurasia’s identity. To make the account appear genuine, he allegedly tagged Pawan’s real mobile number with the fake profile.

Using the fabricated account, the accused allegedly posted objectionable content and circulated threatening messages claiming that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would be targeted in a bomb attack.

The threatening posts immediately triggered concern among security agencies and police officials because of the seriousness of the threats directed at the Chief Minister.

Cyber investigation exposed the accused

Following the circulation of the messages, cyber experts and investigators launched a technical analysis to trace the origin of the account and identify the person behind the posts.

During the digital investigation, the cyber cell reportedly uncovered evidence linking the fake account directly to Nitesh Katiyar.

A police team from Prayagraj later travelled to Jalalabad and arrested the accused with assistance from the local police.

SP City Devendra Kumar confirmed that a case had been registered in Prayagraj and that the accused was taken into custody from Shahjahanpur district.

“The accused is a resident of Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur district. Since the case was registered in Prayagraj, the police team reached Jalalabad and arrested him with the help of local police,” the officer said.

Accused reportedly active on social media

Police sources said Nitesh Katiyar comes from an ordinary family background. About two years ago, he reportedly began working through an outsourced agency linked to the municipal body.

Other members of his family are said to earn their livelihood through small business activities and daily wage labour.

Residents of the area told police that Nitesh was highly active on social media platforms such as X, Facebook and Instagram.

Investigators are now examining his online activity and digital records in greater detail as part of the ongoing probe.

The incident has once again highlighted how personal disputes and failed relationships are increasingly spilling into cyberspace, with fake identities, impersonation and social media misuse being used as tools for revenge and harassment.
