UP Orders Recovery of ₹1 Lakh Award After Aadhaar Identity Fraud Probe
A Pratapgarh inquiry has concluded that the man honoured as Rajneesh Yadav had allegedly used manipulated Aadhaar details to conceal his real identity and age; police have registered a cheating and forgery case against Ajay Kumar.
What began as a moment of public recognition for a Sanskrit examination achiever in Uttar Pradesh has turned into a case of alleged identity fraud, forgery and cheating.
The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the recovery of a ₹1 lakh cash award and other honours presented to a Pratapgarh resident after an official inquiry concluded that he had allegedly altered his identity and date of birth through manipulation of Aadhaar records.
The man had been honoured in June as Rajneesh Yadav after being recognised for his performance in this year’s Uttar Madhyama examination, conducted under the state government’s Sanskrit education system.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had presented him with the ₹1 lakh prize, a tablet, medal and certificate at an official function.
However, the honour came under scrutiny after a complaint was lodged with the police by Jagat Prasad, described as a relative of the accused.
According to Pratapgarh District Inspector of Schools Omkar Rana, the subsequent inquiry found that the person known as Rajneesh Yadav was allegedly Ajay Kumar, a resident of Baijalpur village.
The probe reportedly established that his year of birth had been shown as 2010, while official records examined during the inquiry indicated that he was actually born in 1998.
The education department formed a two-member panel to examine the allegations and verify the available records.
The committee included Ashok Kumar, principal of a government higher secondary school in Pratapgarh, and Vindhyachal Singh, a principal of a government college.
After checking documents and other relevant details, the panel found the allegations to be substantiated and submitted its report to the DIOS.
The findings were subsequently forwarded to the education department headquarters in Lucknow.
Following the inquiry, the state government directed that the entire set of honours be recovered from the recipient. This includes the ₹1 lakh cash award, tablet, medal and certificate.
Officials who went to his residence to collect the items reportedly found the house locked.
Police have also registered a case against Ajay Kumar on allegations of cheating and forgery.
Jagat Prasad has sought a detailed police investigation into the alleged preparation of forged documents and has demanded that investigators examine whether anyone else was involved in helping or guiding the accused.
According to the complaint, Ajay Kumar had earlier passed High School and Intermediate examinations conducted by the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Allahabad, and later completed his graduation from Purvanchal University.
His date of birth in those records is stated to be May 13, 1998.
The same date of birth was also allegedly found in his ration card, where his name is recorded as Ajay Kumar, son of Harilal.
His identity as Ajay, son of Harilal, also appears in the electoral roll, according to the complaint.
The case has now moved beyond the recovery of government awards, with the police investigation expected to focus on how the alleged manipulation of identity documents was carried out and whether others played any role in the process.

उत्तर प्रदेश में संस्कृत परीक्षा में उपलब्धि के लिए सम्मानित किए गए एक व्यक्ति का मामला अब कथित फर्जी पहचान और दस्तावेजों में हेरफेर के आरोपों के चलते पुलिस जांच तक पहुंच गया है।
राज्य सरकार ने जांच रिपोर्ट के आधार पर उस व्यक्ति को दिए गए ₹1 लाख नकद पुरस्कार के साथ टैबलेट, पदक और प्रमाणपत्र भी वापस लेने का आदेश दिया है।
जून में मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने राजनेश यादव के नाम से सम्मानित व्यक्ति को एक समारोह में पुरस्कार प्रदान किए थे। उसे इस वर्ष उत्तर मध्यमा परीक्षा में उपलब्धि के लिए सम्मानित किया गया था।
बाद में उसके खिलाफ प्रतापगढ़ पुलिस में शिकायत दर्ज कराई गई। शिकायतकर्ता जगत प्रसाद ने आरोप लगाया कि व्यक्ति ने अपनी पहचान और जन्मतिथि से जुड़े दस्तावेजों में हेरफेर कर लाभ प्राप्त किया।
मामले की जांच के लिए शिक्षा विभाग ने दो सदस्यीय समिति गठित की। समिति में एक सरकारी उच्चतर माध्यमिक विद्यालय के प्रधानाचार्य अशोक कुमार और एक सरकारी कॉलेज के प्राचार्य विंध्याचल सिंह शामिल थे।
समिति ने उपलब्ध दस्तावेजों और अन्य तथ्यों की पड़ताल की। जांच में आरोपों की पुष्टि होने का दावा किया गया, जिसके बाद रिपोर्ट जिला विद्यालय निरीक्षक को सौंपी गई। रिपोर्ट आगे विभागीय मुख्यालय लखनऊ भेज दी गई।
प्रतापगढ़ के जिला विद्यालय निरीक्षक ओंकार राणा के अनुसार, जांच में सामने आया कि राजनेश यादव के नाम से पहचाना गया व्यक्ति वास्तव में बैजलपुर गांव का निवासी अजय कुमार है।
जांच में यह भी पाया गया कि उसकी जन्मतिथि से संबंधित विवरण में कथित रूप से हेरफेर किया गया था। आरोप है कि वास्तविक जन्म वर्ष 1998 होने के बावजूद रिकॉर्ड में वर्ष 2010 दर्ज कराया गया।
जांच रिपोर्ट के बाद सरकार ने ₹1 लाख नकद राशि के साथ टैबलेट, पदक और प्रमाणपत्र की भी वसूली के निर्देश दिए हैं। अधिकारियों के अनुसार, जब टीम इन वस्तुओं को लेने के लिए उसके घर पहुंची तो मकान बंद मिला।
दूसरी ओर, पुलिस ने अजय कुमार के खिलाफ धोखाधड़ी और जालसाजी के आरोपों में मुकदमा दर्ज कर लिया है।
शिकायतकर्ता जगत प्रसाद ने पुलिस से विस्तृत जांच की मांग की है।
उनका कहना है कि यह पता लगाया जाना चाहिए कि कथित रूप से फर्जी दस्तावेज कैसे तैयार किए गए और क्या इस पूरे मामले में किसी अन्य व्यक्ति ने आरोपी की सहायता या मार्गदर्शन किया।
शिकायत के अनुसार, अजय कुमार ने बोर्ड ऑफ हाई स्कूल एंड इंटरमीडिएट एजुकेशन, इलाहाबाद से हाई स्कूल और इंटरमीडिएट की परीक्षाएं उत्तीर्ण की थीं।
इसके बाद उसने पूर्वांचल विश्वविद्यालय से स्नातक किया। इन शैक्षिक रिकॉर्डों में उसकी जन्मतिथि 13 मई 1998 दर्ज बताई गई है।
शिकायत में यह भी कहा गया है कि राशन कार्ड में उसका नाम अजय कुमार, पिता हरिलाल, के रूप में दर्ज है और वहां भी जन्मतिथि 13 मई 1998 अंकित है।
मतदाता सूची में भी उसका नाम अजय, पिता हरिलाल, के रूप में दर्ज होने की बात कही गई है।
अब पुलिस जांच का मुख्य फोकस इस बात पर रहेगा कि कथित रूप से पहचान संबंधी दस्तावेजों में बदलाव किस तरह किया गया और क्या इस प्रक्रिया में किसी अन्य व्यक्ति की भूमिका थी।
