US-Iran Conflict Escalates: Fresh American Strikes, Iranian Retaliation Across Gulf Raise Fears of Wider Regional War
Washington and Tehran edged closer to a broader military confrontation on Wednesday after American forces reportedly launched another wave of airstrikes on three sites in Iran’s Bushehr province.
Confirming the attacks, Bushehr Governor Mohammad Mozafari told the state-run IRNA news agency that three locations in the province were targeted, marking yet another escalation a day after earlier military action in the same region.
Amid the rapidly deteriorating security situation, US President Donald Trump intensified his rhetoric, urging Tehran to accept Washington’s terms for a settlement.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump warned that Iran risked devastating consequences if it failed to reach an agreement.
He also expressed support for proposed legislation seeking to impose 100 per cent tariffs on countries purchasing Russian oil and indicated that similar punitive measures could be extended to Iran.
Referring to the proposal, he said there was a strong possibility that the legislation would move forward.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the fourth phase of its military campaign, codenamed “Nasr 2.”
The elite force claimed that its operations had destroyed the command headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet along with fuel depots and military equipment facilities in Bahrain.
The IRGC further asserted that its drones struck hangars housing US F-18 fighter aircraft at Jordan’s Al-Azraq airbase.
Kuwait, on the other hand, reported activating its air defence systems after detecting Iranian drone and missile threats, claiming that incoming projectiles were intercepted.
The latest exchange followed Iran’s retaliatory operations launched in response to renewed American military action and Washington’s decision to restore a naval blockade around Iranian ports.
The IRGC stated that it had targeted American military installations in Kuwait, attacked a vessel linked to the United States, and carried out strikes against the US naval facility at Bahrain’s Al Juffair.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces had initiated another round of military operations against Iran shortly after midnight (IST) on July 15 while preparing to reimpose maritime restrictions on Iranian coastal areas.
In a significant policy reversal, President Trump withdrew his earlier proposal to impose a 20 per cent transit charge on commercial vessels sailing through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Instead, he said the expected financial gains would be secured through investment commitments from Gulf nations rather than by levying fees on international shipping.
Growing concerns over the security situation prompted the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to advise airlines against flying through the airspace of several Gulf countries.
The advisory covers Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and the Gulf of Oman, citing the heightened risk arising from the ongoing military confrontation.
The regional conflict has already begun affecting civilians and commercial shipping.
An Indian sailor lost his life while eight other Indian crew members sustained injuries after two UAE oil tankers were reportedly struck by Iranian cruise missiles in Omani waters near the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Arab Emirates’ Defence Ministry confirmed the incident, while India’s Ministry of External Affairs strongly condemned the attack.

मध्य-पूर्व में तनाव बुधवार को और बढ़ गया जब अमेरिकी सेना ने ईरान के बुशेहर प्रांत में स्थित तीन ठिकानों पर नए हवाई हमले किए। सरकारी समाचार एजेंसी आईआरएनए के अनुसार, बुशेहर के गवर्नर मोहम्मद मोज़ाफरी ने पुष्टि की कि प्रांत के तीन स्थानों को निशाना बनाया गया।
यह कार्रवाई एक दिन पहले हुए हमलों के बाद सैन्य अभियान के और तेज होने का संकेत माना जा रहा है।
बढ़ते तनाव के बीच अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप ने तेहरान पर समझौते के लिए दबाव और बढ़ा दिया। फॉक्स न्यूज को दिए साक्षात्कार में उन्होंने कहा कि यदि ईरान समझौता नहीं करता है तो उसे गंभीर परिणाम भुगतने पड़ सकते हैं।
ट्रंप ने रूस से तेल खरीदने वाले देशों पर 100 प्रतिशत शुल्क लगाने संबंधी प्रस्तावित विधेयक का समर्थन भी किया और संकेत दिया कि इसी प्रकार के कड़े आर्थिक प्रतिबंध ईरान पर भी लागू किए जा सकते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि इस प्रस्ताव के कानून बनने की संभावना काफी मजबूत है।
दूसरी ओर, ईरान की इस्लामिक रिवोल्यूशनरी गार्ड कॉर्प्स (आईआरजीसी) ने अपने सैन्य अभियान “नस्र-2” के चौथे चरण की घोषणा की।
आईआरजीसी ने दावा किया कि उसने बहरीन में अमेरिकी पांचवें बेड़े के कमांड मुख्यालय, ईंधन भंडार और सैन्य उपकरण सुविधाओं को निशाना बनाकर नष्ट कर दिया।
संगठन ने यह भी दावा किया कि उसके ड्रोन ने जॉर्डन के अल-अज़राक एयरबेस पर अमेरिकी एफ-18 लड़ाकू विमानों के हैंगरों को लक्ष्य बनाया।
वहीं, कुवैत ने कहा कि ईरानी ड्रोन और मिसाइल हमलों की आशंका के बीच उसकी वायु रक्षा प्रणाली सक्रिय कर दी गई और कई आने वाले हथियारों को रास्ते में ही मार गिराया गया।
ताज़ा घटनाक्रम उस समय सामने आया जब ईरान ने अमेरिकी सैन्य कार्रवाई और अपने बंदरगाहों पर फिर से लगाए गए समुद्री प्रतिबंधों के जवाब में जवाबी हमले शुरू किए।
आईआरजीसी ने दावा किया कि उसने कुवैत में अमेरिकी सैन्य प्रतिष्ठानों, अमेरिका से जुड़े एक जहाज तथा बहरीन के अल-जुफैर स्थित अमेरिकी नौसैनिक अड्डे को निशाना बनाया।
उधर, अमेरिकी सेंट्रल कमांड (सेंटकॉम) के अनुसार, 15 जुलाई की मध्यरात्रि के बाद अमेरिकी सेना ने ईरान के विरुद्ध नए सैन्य अभियान शुरू किए और साथ ही ईरानी बंदरगाहों एवं तटीय क्षेत्रों पर नौसैनिक नाकेबंदी दोबारा लागू करने की तैयारी भी की।
इस बीच राष्ट्रपति ट्रंप ने अपनी उस योजना को वापस ले लिया जिसके तहत होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य से गुजरने वाले मालवाहक जहाजों पर 20 प्रतिशत पारगमन शुल्क लगाने का प्रस्ताव था।
उन्होंने कहा कि इस राजस्व की भरपाई अब खाड़ी देशों से मिलने वाली निवेश प्रतिबद्धताओं के माध्यम से की जाएगी, न कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय जहाजरानी पर अतिरिक्त शुल्क लगाकर।
बिगड़ती सुरक्षा स्थिति को देखते हुए यूरोपीय संघ की विमानन सुरक्षा एजेंसी (ईएएसए) ने एयरलाइनों को परामर्श जारी करते हुए कुवैत, बहरीन, कतर, संयुक्त अरब अमीरात तथा ओमान की खाड़ी के ऊपर से उड़ानें संचालित करने से बचने की सलाह दी है। एजेंसी ने क्षेत्र में बढ़ते सैन्य जोखिम को इस चेतावनी का प्रमुख कारण बताया।
संघर्ष का असर अब समुद्री व्यापार और नागरिकों पर भी दिखाई देने लगा है। होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य के निकट ओमान के समुद्री क्षेत्र में दो संयुक्त अरब अमीरात के तेल टैंकरों पर कथित रूप से ईरानी क्रूज़ मिसाइलों के हमले में एक भारतीय नाविक की मौत हो गई, जबकि आठ अन्य भारतीय घायल हो गए।
संयुक्त अरब अमीरात के रक्षा मंत्रालय ने घटना की पुष्टि की है। भारत के विदेश मंत्रालय ने इस हमले की कड़ी निंदा करते हुए इसे बेहद गंभीर घटना बताया है।
