WhatsApp Reviews Multiple Accounts Worldwide Including India Users Report Temporary Restrictions
New Delhi: Messaging platform WhatsApp on Monday temporarily placed several user accounts across different countries, including India, under a review process that restricted access to almost all features of the application.
The unexpected action left many users unable to use the service and sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms.
According to PTI, multiple affected accounts displayed a notice informing users that their profiles had been placed under review for up to 24 hours.
During this period, key functions of the app remained unavailable, creating concern among users who rely on WhatsApp for personal and professional communication.
Responding to the reports, a WhatsApp spokesperson said the company continuously works to detect and prevent misuse of its platform in order to protect the broader user community.
The spokesperson acknowledged that genuine users may occasionally be affected by automated enforcement measures and said the company makes every effort to restore such accounts as quickly as possible whenever an error is identified.
Many users reported that the issue first surfaced at around 8 pm IST without any advance notification from the Meta-owned messaging platform.
The sudden restrictions surprised users who said they had been using the application normally until access was interrupted.
The notification shown within the app informed users that their account activity and device information were being examined to verify compliance with WhatsApp’s Terms of Service.
The message stated that the review request had been registered on August,3 2026, and that users would generally receive the outcome of the verification within 24 hours.
The review page also directed users to additional information explaining responsible use of WhatsApp.
It included links offering guidance on account-related issues along with information for people dealing with stolen phones or compromised accounts.
As screenshots of the warning message spread online, many users turned to social media seeking clarification and assistance.
Several claimed their accounts had been suspended despite not receiving any prior notice or explanation from the company.
One user appealed publicly, saying the account had been disabled unexpectedly and that an appeal had already been submitted.
The user said the review page contained only a standard message indicating that the verification process would normally be completed within 24 hours and requested urgent assistance.
Another user posting on X said the account had been blocked without any warning despite using only the official version of WhatsApp.

नई दिल्ली: इंस्टेंट मैसेजिंग प्लेटफॉर्म व्हाट्सएप ने सोमवार को भारत सहित कई देशों के अनेक उपयोगकर्ताओं के खातों को अस्थायी समीक्षा प्रक्रिया में डाल दिया जिससे प्रभावित लोगों के लिए ऐप की अधिकांश सुविधाएं उपलब्ध नहीं रहीं।
अचानक आई इस समस्या के बाद बड़ी संख्या में उपयोगकर्ताओं ने सोशल मीडिया पर अपनी परेशानी साझा की।
पीटीआई के अनुसार जिन खातों पर यह कार्रवाई हुई उन्हें एक संदेश दिखाई दिया जिसमें बताया गया कि उनका अकाउंट लगभग 24 घंटे तक समीक्षा के अधीन रहेगा।
इस दौरान ऐप की प्रमुख सेवाएं सीमित कर दी गईं जिससे व्यक्तिगत और व्यावसायिक दोनों तरह के उपयोगकर्ताओं को कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ा।
मामले पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए व्हाट्सएप के प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि कंपनी लगातार ऐसे प्रयास करती रहती है ताकि प्लेटफॉर्म का दुरुपयोग करने वालों की पहचान कर अन्य उपयोगकर्ताओं की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित की जा सके।
उन्होंने यह भी स्वीकार किया कि कभी-कभी वास्तविक उपयोगकर्ता भी इस प्रक्रिया की चपेट में आ सकते हैं और ऐसी स्थिति में कंपनी यथाशीघ्र समस्या दूर कर खातों को सामान्य करने का प्रयास करती है।
उपयोगकर्ताओं के अनुसार समस्या का सामना उन्हें सोमवार रात लगभग आठ बजे से होना शुरू हुआ।
प्रभावित लोगों का कहना था कि उन्हें पहले से किसी प्रकार की चेतावनी या सूचना नहीं दी गई थी और अचानक उनके खातों पर प्रतिबंध जैसी स्थिति दिखाई देने लगी।
व्हाट्सएप की ओर से प्रदर्शित संदेश में कहा गया कि उपयोगकर्ता की गतिविधियों और डिवाइस से जुड़ी जानकारी की जांच की जा रही है ताकि यह सुनिश्चित किया जा सके कि खाता कंपनी की सेवा शर्तों के अनुरूप संचालित हो रहा है।
संदेश में यह भी उल्लेख था कि समीक्षा का अनुरोध तीन अगस्त 2026 को दर्ज किया गया है और सामान्यतः 24 घंटे के भीतर परिणाम उपलब्ध करा दिया जाएगा।
इसी पृष्ठ पर उपयोगकर्ताओं को व्हाट्सएप का जिम्मेदारी से उपयोग करने संबंधी दिशा-निर्देश भी उपलब्ध कराए गए।
इसके साथ ही चोरी हुए मोबाइल फोन और खातों से जुड़ी जानकारी प्राप्त करने के विकल्प भी दिए गए थे।
समस्या सामने आने के बाद अनेक प्रभावित उपयोगकर्ताओं ने स्क्रीनशॉट साझा करते हुए सोशल मीडिया पर सहायता मांगी।
कई लोगों ने दावा किया कि उनके खाते बिना किसी पूर्व सूचना के निष्क्रिय कर दिए गए जबकि उन्हें कारण भी नहीं बताया गया।
एक उपयोगकर्ता ने सोशल मीडिया पर लिखा कि उसका व्हाट्सएप खाता बिना किसी स्पष्टीकरण के बंद कर दिया गया है।
उसने बताया कि अपील पहले ही भेजी जा चुकी है लेकिन समीक्षा पृष्ठ पर केवल इतना लिखा है कि आमतौर पर 24 घंटे के भीतर निर्णय लिया जाएगा। उसने कंपनी से तत्काल मदद की अपील की।
एक अन्य उपयोगकर्ता ने एक्स पर लिखा कि आधिकारिक व्हाट्सएप ऐप का ही उपयोग करने के बावजूद उसका खाता अचानक बंद कर दिया गया।
उसने कहा कि उसका पूरा काम व्हाट्सएप पर निर्भर है और कंपनी से जल्द से जल्द सेवा बहाल करने का अनुरोध किया।
