Woman Killed After Motorcycle Hits Dangerous Bypass Jump Near Jasra; Family’s Journey Home for Wedding Ends in Tragedy in Prayagraj

In a deeply distressing road accident on Tuesday, a 55-year-old woman lost her life after the motorcycle she was travelling on lost balance and jolted violently at a hazardous stretch of the highway near Jasra bypass in the Ghoorpur police station area.

The tragic incident has left a family shattered, turning what was meant to be a hopeful return home for a wedding into a moment of irreparable loss.

The deceased, Guddi Devi, wife of Lal Govind and a resident of Bongi village in Ghoorpur, was travelling with her son Golu and her three-year-old granddaughter Rita.

The family was returning from Baghla village in Shankargarh, where Guddi Devi had been staying for the past 15 days at her daughter Pooja’s in-laws’ house due to her daughter’s illness.

With a wedding scheduled at their home on Tuesday, her son had gone to bring her back so she could be part of the family celebrations.

However, fate intervened cruelly. As the motorcycle approached the Jasra bypass, near Amreha village and just before the railway bridge, the vehicle reportedly encountered a dangerous raised portion of the road — a sudden “jump” that locals say has been the cause of multiple accidents in the past.

The motorcycle lost balance after hitting the uneven stretch, throwing the riders off.

Guddi Devi was flung towards the divider and suffered fatal injuries, dying on the spot.

Her son Golu sustained serious injuries in the accident, while the three-year-old child miraculously escaped without major harm, an outcome locals described as nothing short of providential.

Police reached the spot soon after the accident was reported and, with the help of residents, rushed the injured to the hospital. Guddi Devi’s body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Guddi Devi is survived by a large family — four daughters and two sons — who are now grappling with an overwhelming sense of grief. The tragedy has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a joyful family gathering, replacing celebration with mourning.

Residents in the area pointed out that the stretch of road near the Jasra bypass railway bridge is known for its dangerous elevation, often causing two-wheeler riders to lose control.

Locals have repeatedly expressed concern over the hazardous condition of the road, urging authorities to take corrective measures before more lives are lost.

For Guddi Devi’s family, however, such steps will come too late. Their journey home for a wedding has instead become a painful reminder of how suddenly life can change — in a single, unforgiving moment on the road.
