Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes UP Government’s Trillion-Dollar Economy Claim as “Impossible”
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday criticized the Uttar Pradesh government’s ambitious claim of achieving a USD 1 trillion economy within the next four years. Dismissing the claim as unrealistic, Yadav alleged that the state government is adept at making “a trillion lies” instead of delivering genuine results.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Yadav accused the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government of being riddled with corruption and failing to attract significant investments. He claimed that farmers, traders, businessmen, and industrialists across the state are struggling to sustain their livelihoods due to the government’s inefficiency.
“The BJP is only capable of setting a record in telling 1 trillion lies and nothing more,” Yadav stated in his post, written in Hindi.
Referring to the government’s projection, Yadav called it a “mahajhooth” (big lie), arguing that given the current growth rate of Uttar Pradesh’s economy, reaching a USD 1 trillion mark within four years is far from achievable. He labeled the slogan as another empty promise by the BJP.
The SP chief also raised concerns about rising unemployment in the state, emphasizing that the current economic scenario has left various sectors, including agriculture, trade, and industry, in disarray.
“If people do not have money, how will their purchasing power increase? If workers are migrating from the state, where will the labor force come from?” he questioned, highlighting key economic challenges.
Yadav further underscored pressing issues like inflation, stagnating incomes, lack of job opportunities for the youth, and the increasing costs of essential services like healthcare and education.
Concluding his remarks, Yadav stated that dissatisfaction among the people is growing, with widespread discontent against the BJP’s governance. “Everyone is saying they no longer want the BJP,” he added, reiterating his belief that the government’s promises are far removed from the ground realities in Uttar Pradesh.
