Akhilesh Yadav Demands Judicial Probe Into Alleged Missing Ram Temple Donations; Trust Denies Financial Irregularities
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday called for judicial intervention following reports alleging that crores of rupees donated to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya had gone unaccounted for.
Rejecting the claims, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust maintained that regular audits had not uncovered any major financial discrepancies.
Taking to social media platform X, Akhilesh Yadav described the allegations as a serious matter that has raised concerns among devotees across the globe.
Calling the reports deeply troubling, he said it was distressing to learn that a substantial amount of money contributed by worshippers was allegedly missing.
He further termed the situation highly embarrassing for the temple trust if the claims were found to be true.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister urged the judiciary to take suo motu cognisance of the matter, arguing that the issue directly concerns the faith and sentiments of millions of Sanatan Dharma followers worldwide.
According to him, transparency and accountability are essential when public donations linked to religious institutions are involved.
Akhilesh also questioned the government’s response to the controversy, suggesting that the apparent silence from authorities was raising further doubts.

In his post, he remarked that the government’s lack of reaction appeared suspicious and warranted explanation.
Responding to the allegations, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai firmly rejected the claims.
He stated that the trust follows a rigorous audit mechanism and undergoes periodic financial reviews conducted internally as well as in coordination with the State Bank of India.
Rai explained that the auditing process is an ongoing exercise that spans several days and is currently in progress.
He emphasised that, based on the findings available so far, no significant irregularities or unusual transactions had been detected in the trust’s accounts.
The controversy has since triggered a political debate, with opposition leaders demanding greater transparency regarding temple donations, while the trust continues to maintain that its financial records remain in order and that the allegations are not supported by audit findings.
