The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has formally requested assistance from the Indian Army for the ceremonial hoisting of the sacred flag atop the Ayodhya Ram Mandir on November 25 — a day set to symbolize the completion of the main temple structure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to be present for the historic event, marking another milestone in the Ayodhya temple project.

Army Assistance for Precision and Scale

Nripendra Mishra, chairman of the temple construction committee, recently visited Ayodhya to monitor preparations and confirmed that the request to the Ministry of Defense has already been made.

The decision stems from the complexity and scale of the flag-hoisting operation.

“We have approached the Defense Ministry because the Army has significant expertise in ceremonial flag hoisting. They conducted a technical inspection and offered valuable inputs,” Mishra explained.

The temple flag itself is monumental — weighing nearly 11 kilograms and measuring 22 feet in width.

It will be installed atop an 11-foot pole placed at a great height on the temple’s main spire, requiring flawless execution due to the global attention the ceremony will attract.

According to Mishra, continuous practice sessions and rehearsals will be organized with Army guidance to ensure every detail is flawlessly executed.

Guest List and Theme of Inclusivity

The trust has invited an estimated 6,000 dignitaries for the November 25 ceremony.

Mishra also suggested the possibility of extending invitations to donors who have contributed since 2022, aligning with the theme of Samrasta — unity and inclusive participation.

“This is still under consideration. There are 25 days left, and Trust Secretary Champat Rai is looking into finalizing the invitees,” Mishra noted, emphasizing that the initiative aims to honor collective contribution and devotion.

Financial Overview of the Temple Project

The Ram Mandir Trust has so far received contributions exceeding ₹3,000 crore. Expenditure has reached approximately ₹1,500 crore, and is expected to touch around ₹1,800 crore after the construction phase concludes.

Symbolism of the Temple Flag

The sacred flag to be hoisted will bear two prominent insignias — the ancient Kovidara tree, symbolizing the heritage of Ayodhya, and the emblem of the Ikshvaku or Surya Vansh, the solar lineage to which Lord Ram belongs.

These symbols represent Ayodhya’s ancient cultural legacy and divine royal heritage.

Temple Complex Nearing Full Completion

The Trust recently announced that the construction of the main temple, along with six auxiliary shrines — dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Surya, Bhagwati, AnnaAnnapurnand Sheshavatar — has been completed.

By year-end, additional ancillary works such as the Shaheed Smarak (martyrs’ memorial) and the transformation of the temporary temple into a commemorative site are expected to be finalized.

Upcoming Recognition Ceremony

Following the November celebration, the Trust intends to host another large-scale ceremony to honor contributors, supporters, and organizations that aided the temple’s construction.

Recognition certificates or appreciation letters will be presented as a token of gratitude to those who helped bring the long-awaited vision to life.
