Delhi Judicial Officer Death Case: FIR Filed for Abetment, Police Probe Domestic Angle

New Delhi: A 30-year-old judicial officer was found dead at his residence in South Delhi’s Green Park Main on Sunday, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to the Delhi Police, a case has been registered at the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy.

The FIR was filed based on a complaint by the officer’s father.

Officials familiar with the case said that the complaint names the officer’s wife—who is also a judicial officer—as an accused.

It remains unclear whether other members of her family have been included in the FIR. Investigators are currently examining all possible angles to understand what led to the incident.

Police were alerted around 1:30 pm after receiving a call from the officer’s brother-in-law, a resident of Defence Colony.

A team rushed to the four-storey building and found the officer inside the bathroom of his second-floor apartment.

The door was locked from the inside, and with the help of a security guard, officers used a ladder to access the bathroom through a window.

The officer was found hanging and was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Family members have alleged that the officer had been under considerable stress due to ongoing marital disputes.

According to them, the couple had been facing tensions in their relationship for nearly two months.

In his statement to police, the father said his son had called him the previous night, sounding distressed.

He travelled overnight from Alwar to Delhi and was present at the residence when the incident occurred.

The police have begun collecting digital and call records, along with statements from close relatives and neighbours, to piece together the timeline of events.

Forensic teams are also examining the scene, while any written or electronic evidence—such as messages or notes—is being scrutinised.

Authorities have reiterated that the investigation is still at an early stage, and no conclusions have been drawn yet.

Police say they are proceeding cautiously to ensure that all facts are established before determining whether the case involves abetment or other factors.
