“Eight Killed in Akbarpur Road Accident: Youths Attacked While Trying to Save Victims After Bike–Trolley Collision”
Ambedkarnagar: Eight people were killed as a speeding car ran over a group of bystanders who had gathered to help injured motorcyclists following a collision here, police said on Monday.
Even when the accident claimed the lives of eight people, several young men who rushed to help the victims were shockingly assaulted during their rescue effort.
The incident occurred late Sunday night, around 11:30 pm, near an inter-college in the Akbarpur–Jalalpur Marg area.
A motorcycle crashed into a trolley, leading to a devastating collision. The impact was so severe that the victims were left critically injured at the scene.
Hearing the crash, local youths immediately rushed in to help, risking their own safety to save lives.
They pulled the injured out and attempted to arrange transportation so the victims could be taken to the hospital as quickly as possible.
However, instead of being supported, these young rescuers were allegedly abused and beaten, turning their act of courage into a distressing experience.
Despite the chaos, the victims were eventually taken to the district hospital. Tragically, doctors declared all eight individuals dead. The incident has left the entire area in shock and mourning.
According to reports, the trolley driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, further complicating the situation.
Police have taken note of the matter and are expected to investigate both the cause of the accident and the assault on the youths who tried to help.
The deceased have been identified as Adil (21), Dipanshu (15), Anurag (42), Satyam (24), Anurag (24), Sonu Yadav (28), Rajat (35), and Indra (34), all residents of nearby areas.
This heartbreaking incident not only highlights the severity of the accident but also raises serious concerns about the treatment of Good Samaritans.
The bravery shown by the youths stands in stark contrast to the violence they faced, underscoring the urgent need for greater public awareness, accountability, and respect for those who step forward to help in times of crisis.
