Ex-MLA Ansar Ahmed Granted Bail in Prayagraj Cold Storage Explosion Case
Prayagraj: Former minister and ex-MLA Ansar Ahmed has been granted bail in the widely discussed cold storage explosion case in Prayagraj.
On Monday, the Special Judge hearing cases under the MP/MLA Court allowed his bail application and directed that he be released on a personal bond along with two sureties of the same amount.
The case is linked to the tragic incident that occurred on March 23, 2026, when an ammonia gas chamber exploded at Adarsh Cold Storage in the Chakghat area.
The powerful blast resulted in the deaths of four workers from Bihar, while 16 others sustained injuries, making it one of the most serious industrial accidents reported in the district.
Following the explosion, police registered a case against the cold storage management on charges of causing death due to negligence, endangering public safety, financial misconduct, and storing ammonia gas beyond the permissible capacity.
Former MLA Ansar Ahmed was also named as an accused during the investigation.
During the hearing, advocates M. H. Khan, Pramod Singh Neeraj, and Assistant District Government Counsel (Criminal) presented their arguments before the court.
After examining the submissions made by both sides, the court allowed the bail plea.
The court also observed that the remaining accused in the case had already secured bail earlier. Since the police had completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet, and Ansar Ahmed has remained in judicial custody since March 24, 2026, the court considered it appropriate to grant him bail.
प्रयागराज कोल्ड स्टोरेज विस्फोट मामले में पूर्व विधायक अंसार अहमद को मिली जमानत
प्रयागराज: जिले के चर्चित कोल्ड स्टोरेज विस्फोट मामले में पूर्व मंत्री और पूर्व विधायक अंसार अहमद को जमानत मिल गई है। सोमवार को एमपी/एमएलए कोर्ट के विशेष न्यायाधीश ने उनकी जमानत याचिका स्वीकार करते हुए निजी मुचलके तथा समान धनराशि के दो जमानतदारों पर रिहा किए जाने का आदेश दिया।
यह मामला 23 मार्च 2026 को चकघाट स्थित आदर्श कोल्ड स्टोरेज में अमोनिया गैस के चैंबर में हुए भीषण विस्फोट से जुड़ा है। हादसे में बिहार के चार श्रमिकों की मौत हो गई थी, जबकि 16 अन्य लोग घायल हुए थे। इस घटना को जिले की सबसे गंभीर औद्योगिक दुर्घटनाओं में से एक माना गया था।
घटना के बाद पुलिस ने कोल्ड स्टोरेज प्रबंधन के खिलाफ लापरवाही से मृत्यु कारित करने, सुरक्षा मानकों की अनदेखी, आर्थिक अनियमितताओं तथा निर्धारित क्षमता से अधिक अमोनिया गैस का भंडारण करने जैसे गंभीर आरोपों में मुकदमा दर्ज किया था। जांच के दौरान पूर्व विधायक अंसार अहमद को भी इस मामले में आरोपी बनाया गया।
सुनवाई के दौरान अधिवक्ता एम. एच. खान, प्रमोद सिंह नीरज तथा सहायक जिला शासकीय अधिवक्ता (फौजदारी) ने अदालत के समक्ष अपने-अपने पक्ष रखे। दोनों पक्षों की दलीलों पर विचार करने के बाद न्यायालय ने अंसार अहमद की जमानत अर्जी मंजूर कर ली।
अदालत ने अपने आदेश में यह भी उल्लेख किया कि इस मामले के अन्य सभी आरोपियों को पहले ही जमानत मिल चुकी है। साथ ही पुलिस आरोपपत्र दाखिल कर चुकी है और अंसार अहमद 24 मार्च 2026 से न्यायिक हिरासत में हैं। इन परिस्थितियों को देखते हुए न्यायालय ने उन्हें जमानत देने का निर्णय लिया।
