Hyderabad Court Sends Trainee IPS Officer to 14-Day Judicial Custody in Alleged Sexual Assault Case
Judicial custody for 14 days has been ordered for a 33-year-old trainee Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who was arrested following allegations of assaulting a fellow woman IPS trainee in Hyderabad.
The accused was produced before a local court after his arrest, which directed that he be lodged in judicial custody while the investigation proceeds.
Police have invoked several serious provisions against the officer, including charges relating to sexual assault, attempt to murder, stalking and criminal intimidation.
Investigators said the case is being pursued in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.
Identified as M. Uday Krishna Reddy, the accused had earlier served as a constable in the Andhra Pradesh Police before resigning from service in 2019 to prepare for the Civil Services Examination.
His rise from the rank of constable to the Indian Police Service drew widespread attention after he cleared the UPSC examination in 2024 and joined the IPS the following year.
According to Hyderabad Police, the complainant first came in contact with Reddy after responding to an Instagram post in which he had shared his journey of qualifying for the IPS.
Police said the two later exchanged phone numbers and eventually entered into a relationship.
Investigators alleged that the relationship gradually became strained, with repeated disagreements, emotional pressure, possessive behaviour and frequent confrontations.
In a statement, Hyderabad Police alleged that the accused repeatedly threatened to end his life, displayed weapons during disputes, insulted the complainant and made repeated accusations regarding her personal relationships.
Police further claimed that he damaged her laptop, created fake social media accounts after she blocked him, threatened to make private conversations public and contacted her relatives and colleagues without her permission.
The National Police Academy has not issued any official statement regarding the complaint so far.
The complaint states that after the woman ended the relationship and subsequently married another person, the accused allegedly continued to harass her.
She alleged that he persistently monitored her online activities, stalked her and threatened to circulate private conversations among her family members.
Acting on the complaint, Hyderabad Police arrested Reddy and produced him before the XXV Additional Judicial Magistrate of First Class, Ranga Reddy district.
Police stated that the investigation is being carried out strictly in accordance with the law.
The magistrate thereafter remanded the accused to judicial custody for 14 days.
In her written complaint dated July 18, the trainee IPS officer alleged that she had been subjected to sexually abusive WhatsApp messages and humiliating remarks in the presence of fellow trainees at the academy.
She stated that the alleged harassment had continued from June 23 onwards. Reddy has denied all the allegations levelled against him.
The complainant further alleged that the accused repeatedly made unfounded accusations that she was involved in a relationship with another trainee.
She also claimed that he compelled her to unlock her mobile phone, accessed her personal messages without consent and allegedly used the information to intimidate and blackmail her.
Describing one of the alleged incidents, the complainant stated that on July 9 the accused restrained her movement, forced her into his room, pulled her by the hair and allegedly attempted to strangle her.
She further alleged that he threatened her with a knife and prevented her from leaving the room.
According to the complaint, another incident of physical assault allegedly took place the following day.
The woman officer also alleged that the accused secretly recorded a private video without her knowledge or consent and later sent it to her husband in an attempt to blackmail her.
She further claimed that he circulated false and defamatory information to damage her reputation.
Based on her complaint, police registered a First Information Report (FIR).
Following the registration of the FIR, Reddy posted a message on Instagram denying all allegations.
In the post, he described the complaint and the rumours surrounding the case as false and said he had full faith in the judicial process and was confident that the truth would emerge through the course of law. The officer has moved the Telangana High Court for the quashing of the FIR.

हैदराबाद की एक स्थानीय अदालत ने महिला प्रशिक्षु आईपीएस अधिकारी से कथित मारपीट यौन हिंसा और उत्पीड़न के मामले में गिरफ्तार 33 वर्षीय प्रशिक्षु आईपीएस अधिकारी को 14 दिनों की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया है।
गिरफ्तारी के बाद आरोपी को अदालत में पेश किया गया, जहां मजिस्ट्रेट ने मामले की जांच जारी रहने तक उसे न्यायिक अभिरक्षा में भेजने का आदेश दिया।
पुलिस ने आरोपी के खिलाफ मारपीट, हत्या के प्रयास, पीछा करने (स्टॉकिंग) और आपराधिक धमकी सहित कई गंभीर धाराओं के तहत मामला दर्ज किया है। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि जांच कानून के प्रावधानों के अनुरूप आगे बढ़ाई जा रही है।
आरोपी की पहचान एम. उदय कृष्णा रेड्डी के रूप में हुई है। वह पहले आंध्र प्रदेश पुलिस में कांस्टेबल के पद पर कार्यरत था, लेकिन वर्ष 2019 में नौकरी छोड़कर संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (यूपीएससी) की तैयारी में जुट गया।
वर्ष 2024 में सिविल सेवा परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करने और 2025 में आईपीएस सेवा में शामिल होने के बाद कांस्टेबल से आईपीएस बनने का उसका सफर व्यापक चर्चा का विषय बना था।
हैदराबाद पुलिस के अनुसार शिकायतकर्ता की आरोपी से पहचान उस समय हुई जब उसने इंस्टाग्राम पर आईपीएस परीक्षा में सफलता की अपनी यात्रा साझा करने वाली उसकी पोस्ट पर प्रतिक्रिया दी।
पुलिस का कहना है कि बाद में दोनों ने एक-दूसरे के संपर्क नंबर साझा किए और उनके बीच संबंध विकसित हुआ।
जांच एजेंसियों के अनुसार समय के साथ इस संबंध में लगातार विवाद, भावनात्मक दबाव, अत्यधिक अधिकार जताने की प्रवृत्ति और तनावपूर्ण व्यवहार सामने आने लगा।
पुलिस के बयान के अनुसार आरोपी पर आरोप है कि वह बार-बार आत्महत्या की धमकी देता था, विवाद के दौरान हथियार दिखाता था, शिकायतकर्ता का अपमान करता था और उसके निजी संबंधों को लेकर लगातार टिप्पणी करता था।
पुलिस ने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि उसने शिकायतकर्ता का लैपटॉप क्षतिग्रस्त किया, ब्लॉक किए जाने के बाद फर्जी सोशल मीडिया खाते बनाए, निजी चैट सार्वजनिक करने की धमकी दी तथा उसकी अनुमति के बिना उसके परिवार और सहकर्मियों से संपर्क किया।
राष्ट्रीय पुलिस अकादमी की ओर से इस शिकायत पर अब तक कोई आधिकारिक प्रतिक्रिया जारी नहीं की गई है।
शिकायत में कहा गया है कि संबंध समाप्त होने और बाद में महिला अधिकारी के विवाह के बावजूद आरोपी ने कथित रूप से उसका पीछा करना जारी रखा।
शिकायतकर्ता का आरोप है कि आरोपी उसकी ऑनलाइन गतिविधियों पर नजर रखता रहा और निजी बातचीत उसके परिवार के सदस्यों तक पहुंचाने की धमकी देता था।
महिला अधिकारी की शिकायत के आधार पर हैदराबाद पुलिस ने रेड्डी को गिरफ्तार कर रंगा रेड्डी जिले की 25वीं अतिरिक्त न्यायिक मजिस्ट्रेट प्रथम श्रेणी की अदालत में पेश किया।
पुलिस ने कहा कि मामले में विधि के अनुसार कार्रवाई की जा रही है। अदालत ने सुनवाई के बाद आरोपी को 14 दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेजने का आदेश दिया।
18 जुलाई को दर्ज अपनी शिकायत में प्रशिक्षु महिला आईपीएस अधिकारी ने आरोप लगाया कि आरोपी ने उसे व्हाट्सऐप पर आपत्तिजनक संदेश भेजे और अकादमी में अन्य प्रशिक्षुओं के सामने अपमानजनक टिप्पणियां कीं।
शिकायतकर्ता के अनुसार यह कथित उत्पीड़न 23 जून से लगातार जारी था। दूसरी ओर, रेड्डी ने अपने खिलाफ लगाए गए सभी आरोपों से इनकार किया है।
महिला अधिकारी ने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि आरोपी बिना किसी आधार के उस पर दूसरे प्रशिक्षु के साथ संबंध होने का आरोप लगाता था।
शिकायत में कहा गया है कि उसने उसे मोबाइल फोन अनलॉक करने के लिए मजबूर किया, निजी संदेश देखे और बाद में उन्हीं संदेशों के आधार पर उसे कथित रूप से ब्लैकमेल किया।
शिकायत के अनुसार 9 जुलाई को आरोपी ने कथित तौर पर उसका रास्ता रोका, जबरन अपने कमरे में ले गया, बाल पकड़कर खींचा और गला दबाने का प्रयास किया।
शिकायतकर्ता ने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि आरोपी ने उसकी गर्दन पर चाकू रखकर उसे कमरे से बाहर नहीं जाने दिया। शिकायत में अगले दिन दोबारा शारीरिक हमला किए जाने का भी आरोप लगाया गया है।
महिला प्रशिक्षु अधिकारी ने अपनी शिकायत में यह भी कहा कि आरोपी ने उसकी जानकारी और सहमति के बिना एक निजी वीडियो रिकॉर्ड किया और बाद में उसे उसके पति को भेजकर कथित रूप से ब्लैकमेल करने की कोशिश की।
उसने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि आरोपी ने उसकी छवि खराब करने के उद्देश्य से झूठी और अपमानजनक बातें फैलाने का प्रयास किया। शिकायत के आधार पर पुलिस ने प्राथमिकी दर्ज कर जांच शुरू कर दी।
एफआईआर दर्ज होने के बाद रेड्डी ने इंस्टाग्राम पर एक पोस्ट जारी कर अपने ऊपर लगे सभी आरोपों को निराधार बताया।
उसने लिखा कि शिकायत और उसके संबंध में फैल रही अफवाहें पूरी तरह असत्य हैं तथा उसे न्यायिक प्रक्रिया पर पूरा भरोसा है और उसे विश्वास है कि कानून के माध्यम से सच्चाई सामने आएगी।
