Fresh concerns over alleged irregularities in the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) examination process have prompted intensified scrutiny from both the Education Ministry and a parliamentary committee.
Following complaints related to the OMR answer-sheet evaluation system and the re-evaluation portal, authorities have initiated a detailed review to identify lapses and fix accountability.
Education Ministry Orders Thorough Investigation
After reports of discrepancies surfaced, the Ministry of Education launched a high-level inquiry into issues linked to the OMR assessment process.
Officials have indicated that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible once the investigation is completed.
The move follows claims that answer-sheet data from Class 12 board examinations may have been exposed on a publicly accessible platform, raising concerns about data security and transparency.
Authorities Examine Security and Evaluation Procedures
Senior ministry officials held discussions to assess the situation and review existing safeguards.
Alongside examining alleged irregularities, the government has also sought a comprehensive report on the systems and procedures used in the evaluation process.

Parliamentary Committee Seeks Answers from NTA
During a meeting held in New Delhi, a parliamentary panel questioned NTA officials over several issues, including the handling of the 2024 NEET-UG paper leak controversy.
Committee members reportedly asked why recommendations made by a high-powered expert panel regarding a “computer-based secure testing model” had not yet been fully implemented.
NTA officials responded by stating that preparations are underway to transition the examination system to a more secure format by 2027.
However, lawmakers pressed for clarity on why reforms suggested after last year’s controversy have not already been put into practice.
Questions Raised Over the Paper Leak Investigation
Members of the committee also sought updates on the NEET-UG paper leak case.
According to sources, NTA reiterated its position that the examination system itself had not been compromised. Officials maintained that only a limited number of questions were leaked and that the entire test infrastructure was not breached.
However, some committee members reportedly challenged this explanation and asked for details on what exactly had been compromised.
NTA stated that the matter remains under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and that definitive conclusions should await the completion of the probe.

During the discussions, NTA informed the committee that upcoming examinations, including the proposed June 21 NEET-PG examination, are expected to incorporate stronger security arrangements.

The ministry has also begun exploring ways to reduce the burden on students affected by evaluation-related delays.
Proposed measures include speeding up the re-evaluation process and streamlining counselling schedules so that students do not face unnecessary uncertainty regarding admissions and academic planning.

The parliamentary committee is expected to continue reviewing concerns related to examination administration, data security, and student welfare.
Members have indicated that questions will also be raised about the OMR evaluation framework and the mechanisms used for re-assessment.
