Overloaded Dumper Defying No-Entry Rules Kills Youth on Prayagraj-Mirzapur Highway, Several Injured
A tragic road accident on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur Highway in the Yamunapar region has once again raised serious concerns over the unchecked movement of overloaded dumpers despite official no-entry restrictions.
The fatal collision, which occurred on Friday evening, claimed the life of a young man and left several others injured, leaving an entire family devastated and sparking outrage among residents.
According to reports, the accident took place near Mardapur Gandhiyav village at around 4:30 pm when an auto-rickshaw (appe) carrying passengers from Prayagraj towards Meja stopped on the roadside to pick up more passengers.
Witnesses said that moments later, a speeding overloaded dumper coming from behind rammed violently into the vehicle.
The impact of the collision was so severe that passengers inside the auto-rickshaw were thrown onto the road, creating panic and chaos at the scene.
Seven people travelling in the vehicle sustained injuries in the accident.
Among the seriously injured were 28-year-old Ritesh Kumar, a resident of Katka village, and his brother-in-law Akash Kumar from Dehli Bhagesar village.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the crash and rushed the injured to a nearby Community Health Centre.
Due to the critical nature of his injuries, doctors referred Ritesh to a city hospital for advanced treatment.
However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, turning the tragic accident into a heartbreaking loss for his family.
Family members said Ritesh worked as a labourer in Surat and had recently returned home after spending time away for work.
On the day of the accident, he had travelled to Naini along with his brother-in-law, Akash, for medical treatment. His untimely death has left the family shattered with grief.
Ritesh was the third among five brothers, and his passing has deeply affected the entire household.
His wife, Anjali and their three-year-old son are said to be inconsolable, while relatives and villagers continue to mourn the loss of a young man whose life was cut short in a preventable accident.
Following the incident, residents strongly criticised the functioning of the Karachhana police and concerned departments, alleging that the ban on heavy vehicles in the Bheerpur outpost area exists only on paper.
Residents claimed that overloaded dumpers continue to move freely on the highway day and night without effective monitoring or enforcement.
Locals also pointed out that this is not an isolated incident. Over the past few months, more than half a dozen people have reportedly lost their lives in dumper-related accidents in the Karachhana region.
The repeated tragedies have intensified public anger, with residents demanding strict action against illegal overloading and reckless driving to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
