PM Modi to Visit Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, Meet Putin on SCO Summit Sidelines
The Prime Minister’s four-day Central Asia tour will combine bilateral diplomacy in Tashkent with multilateral engagements at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan from August 29 for the SCO Summit, bilateral talks with Vladimir Putin and discussions on India-Central Asia ties.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a four-day visit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan beginning Saturday, with his programme centred on strengthening India’s engagement with Central Asia and participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
The visit will begin in Uzbekistan, where Modi will remain from August 29 to 30 at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
He will then travel to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan on August 31 to attend the SCO Summit.
One of the major engagements during the summit will be a meeting between Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The two leaders are expected to hold bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the SCO gathering.
Foreign Secretary (West) Sibi George said the proposed Modi-Putin meeting would provide an opportunity to review the full spectrum of relations between India and Russia.
He added that further details regarding Modi’s other bilateral engagements would be announced after the meetings are finalised.
The Prime Minister’s visit comes shortly after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar travelled to Moscow, where he met President Putin and co-chaired the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission meeting dealing with trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation.
Security, Connectivity and Opportunity to Be India’s Focus at SCO
The upcoming SCO Summit will coincide with the completion of 25 years of the organisation, which was created with regional cooperation and security among its principal objectives.
The changing security situation across the region is expected to be an important subject during the summit. Countering terrorism, separatism and extremism remains central to the SCO’s agenda.
During his address, Modi is expected to present India’s approach to regional cooperation through three broad themes — security, connectivity and opportunity.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are among the prominent leaders expected to participate in the summit.
India, which joined the SCO as a full member in 2017, has consistently highlighted the need for stronger regional cooperation while maintaining a focus on security challenges and connectivity.
Uzbekistan Visit to Focus on Strategic Partnership
Before travelling to Kyrgyzstan, Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent. The trip will be Modi’s fourth visit to Uzbekistan.
The discussions are expected to cover the next phase of the India-Uzbekistan strategic partnership, with both sides set to review ongoing cooperation in several sectors.
Trade and investment, defence, energy, digital connectivity, education and people-to-people exchanges are expected to feature prominently during the bilateral talks.
The visit will also include engagements reflecting the historical and cultural links between India and Uzbekistan.
Modi is scheduled to visit the Lal Bahadur Shastri memorial in Tashkent and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
World Nomad Games Also on Modi’s Programme
After arriving in Kyrgyzstan, Modi will participate in SCO-related engagements and is also scheduled to attend the inauguration of the sixth World Nomad Games.
The event celebrates the traditions, sporting heritage and cultural identity of Central Asian societies.
With the Central Asia visit bringing together bilateral meetings, a major multilateral summit and cultural engagements, the trip is expected to provide Modi an opportunity to advance India’s diplomatic priorities while reinforcing New Delhi’s strategic presence in the region.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी चार दिवसीय उज्बेकिस्तान और किर्गिस्तान दौरे पर जा रहे हैं। यात्रा के दौरान SCO Summit, राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन से बैठक और कई द्विपक्षीय वार्ताएं होंगी।
नई दिल्ली: प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी शनिवार से उज्बेकिस्तान और किर्गिस्तान की चार दिवसीय यात्रा पर रवाना होंगे।
इस दौरे में भारत की मध्य एशिया नीति, क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा और बहुपक्षीय सहयोग के साथ रूस के साथ द्विपक्षीय संबंधों पर भी विशेष ध्यान रहने की संभावना है।
मोदी पहले उज्बेकिस्तान जाएंगे, जहां वह 29 और 30 अगस्त को राष्ट्रपति शावकत मिर्जियोयेव के निमंत्रण पर रहेंगे।
इसके बाद 31 अगस्त को वह किर्गिस्तान की राजधानी बिश्केक पहुंचेंगे और शंघाई सहयोग संगठन (SCO) के शिखर सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेंगे।
एससीओ बैठक के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री की रूसी राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन के साथ द्विपक्षीय मुलाकात भी प्रस्तावित है।
दोनों नेताओं के बीच भारत-रूस संबंधों से जुड़े विभिन्न क्षेत्रों की समीक्षा किए जाने की उम्मीद है।
विदेश मंत्रालय में सचिव (पश्चिम) सिबी जॉर्ज ने कहा कि मोदी और पुतिन की बैठक शिखर सम्मेलन के इतर होगी।
उन्होंने बताया कि प्रधानमंत्री की अन्य द्विपक्षीय मुलाकातों की जानकारी तय होने के बाद सार्वजनिक की जाएगी।
मोदी की यात्रा से पहले विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर भी मॉस्को का दौरा कर चुके हैं।
वहां उन्होंने राष्ट्रपति पुतिन से मुलाकात की थी और भारत-रूस अंतर-सरकारी आयोग की व्यापार, आर्थिक, वैज्ञानिक, तकनीकी और सांस्कृतिक सहयोग से संबंधित बैठक की सह-अध्यक्षता की थी।
SCO में भारत रखेगा सुरक्षा और संपर्क बढ़ाने का एजेंडा
बिश्केक में होने वाला शंघाई सहयोग संगठन का शिखर सम्मेलन इस संगठन की स्थापना के 25 वर्ष पूरे होने के मौके पर आयोजित हो रहा है।
क्षेत्रीय और वैश्विक परिस्थितियों में हो रहे बदलाव के बीच सुरक्षा का मुद्दा सम्मेलन की प्रमुख चर्चाओं में शामिल रहने की उम्मीद है।
आतंकवाद, अलगाववाद और उग्रवाद के खिलाफ सहयोग एससीओ की स्थापना के मूल उद्देश्यों में रहा है।
प्रधानमंत्री मोदी अपने संबोधन में भारत की प्राथमिकताओं को सुरक्षा, संपर्क और अवसर के व्यापक ढांचे के माध्यम से प्रस्तुत कर सकते हैं।
सम्मेलन में चीन के राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग, रूस के राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन और पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री शहबाज शरीफ समेत कई देशों के शीर्ष नेताओं के शामिल होने की संभावना है।
भारत 2017 से एससीओ का पूर्ण सदस्य है और संगठन के मंच पर लगातार आतंकवाद के खिलाफ प्रभावी कार्रवाई तथा क्षेत्रीय सहयोग को मजबूत करने की आवश्यकता पर जोर देता रहा है।
उज्बेकिस्तान के साथ रणनीतिक साझेदारी पर होगी चर्चा
उज्बेकिस्तान दौरे के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री मोदी और राष्ट्रपति शावकत मिर्जियोयेव के बीच व्यापक बातचीत होगी। दोनों नेता भारत-उज्बेकिस्तान रणनीतिक साझेदारी को आगे बढ़ाने के उपायों पर विचार करेंगे।
बैठक में व्यापार और निवेश के साथ रक्षा सहयोग, ऊर्जा, डिजिटल संपर्क, शिक्षा तथा लोगों के बीच आपसी संबंधों को मजबूत करने के विषयों पर चर्चा होने की संभावना है।
प्रधानमंत्री की यह उज्बेकिस्तान की चौथी यात्रा होगी। भारत और उज्बेकिस्तान के बीच ऐतिहासिक और सांस्कृतिक संबंधों को देखते हुए यात्रा में कुछ सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम भी शामिल किए गए हैं।
मोदी ताशकंद में स्थित लाल बहादुर शास्त्री स्मारक जाएंगे। इसके अलावा वह ताशकंद स्टेट यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ ओरिएंटल स्टडीज में महात्मा गांधी केंद्र का भी दौरा करेंगे।
किर्गिस्तान में विश्व नोमैड गेम्स के उद्घाटन में शामिल होंगे मोदी
किर्गिस्तान प्रवास के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री छठे विश्व नोमैड गेम्स के उद्घाटन समारोह में भी हिस्सा लेंगे।
यह आयोजन मध्य एशिया की पारंपरिक जीवनशैली, खेलों और सांस्कृतिक विरासत को अंतरराष्ट्रीय मंच पर प्रदर्शित करता है।
उज्बेकिस्तान में द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को मजबूत करने और किर्गिस्तान में एससीओ के बहुपक्षीय मंच पर भागीदारी के माध्यम से प्रधानमंत्री मोदी की यह यात्रा भारत की मध्य एशिया में कूटनीतिक और रणनीतिक भागीदारी को आगे बढ़ाने के लिहाज से महत्वपूर्ण मानी जा रही है।
