Prayagraj Family Murder Case: Jailed Son Ashwini Vaishya Left Devastated After Learning of Parents’ Death
The brutal murder of four members of the Vaishya family in Prayagraj has left the surviving son, Ashwini Vaishya, emotionally shattered inside Kaushambi District Jail, where he has been lodged in connection with a fraud case for more than two years.
According to sources, a team from Prayagraj Police visited the jail on Tuesday night and, after obtaining special permission from the District Magistrate, conducted an extensive interrogation of Ashwini.
Officials reportedly avoided directly informing him about the deaths of his family members during questioning and instead told him that they had suffered serious injuries.
However, investigators believe that Ashwini sensed that something tragic had occurred.
By Wednesday morning, news of the deaths reportedly reached him through other sources. Jail officials said the information deeply affected him, and he remained in a state of shock throughout the day.
Sources claimed that he even refused tea after learning about the incident.
Efforts were reportedly made to explore the possibility of securing parole for Ashwini, but no immediate relief could be arranged.
While some sources suggested that he refused to eat following the devastating news, jail authorities maintained that he was persuaded to have food later in the day.
Ashwini has been lodged in Kaushambi Jail since March 20, 2024, in connection with an alleged cheating case. In view of the sensitive situation, prison authorities took precautionary measures to ensure his safety and mental well-being.
On Wednesday morning, officials reportedly removed newspaper pages carrying detailed reports about the killings before distributing newspapers inside the jail premises.
Jail Superintendent Ajitesh Mishra said special arrangements had been made to monitor Ashwini and provide additional support during this difficult period.
As part of the security measures, he was shifted to a different barrack and placed under the supervision of a designated inmate responsible for assisting prison staff.
According to jail authorities, Ashwini had very limited support outside prison. Officials stated that his father had earlier disowned him and removed him from any claim to family property.
As a result, there was no one actively pursuing legal representation on his behalf, prompting authorities to arrange free legal aid for him under the provisions available to inmates.
The tragedy has added another painful dimension to a case that has already shocked residents across Prayagraj.
With most members of his immediate family now gone, Ashwini finds himself confronting an unimaginable personal loss while remaining behind bars, far from the final rites and mourning rituals of his loved ones.
