Prayagraj Property Owners to Benefit from Uniform Mutation Fee Policy
Prayagraj: Property owners in Prayagraj will now be able to take advantage of a simplified and significantly cheaper property mutation process.
Under the revised policy, owners of properties valued at more than ₹50 lakh will be required to pay a flat mutation fee of only ₹10,000 to the Municipal Corporation.
Earlier, the mutation charge was calculated at 0.5 percent of a property’s total value, often resulting in a substantial financial burden for homeowners.
The proposal to introduce a fixed fee structure was approved during a previous meeting of the Municipal Corporation’s governing body.
However, the implementation of the policy was delayed due to complications involving property owners who had acquired buildings before February.
A discrepancy emerged in the documents sent by the Municipal Corporation to the Government Press for gazette notification, preventing the new system from being enforced.
To address the issue and ensure greater public convenience, the state government has now directed all urban local bodies to adopt a uniform mutation fee structure.
The Municipal Corporation had already completed the process of reviewing and resolving objections related to the proposal in November after it was placed before the civic body for approval.
With the government’s latest directive, the benefit of the revised mutation policy will now be extended to all building owners without exception.
As a result, owners of properties worth more than ₹50 lakh will only need to deposit a fixed mutation fee of ₹10,000 with the Municipal Corporation, making the process more affordable and citizen-friendly.
Confirming the development, Sanjay Mamgain, CTO of the Municipal Corporation, said that the revised mutation fee structure will be applicable to all eligible property owners, ensuring uniformity and ease of access to civic services.
