Saharanpur DPO Moves Allahabad High Court to Quash FIR Amid Serious Allegations of Shelter Home Abuse
Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: A fresh development has emerged in a case involving a senior district-level official who has previously faced serious allegations related to the welfare and protection of girls housed in government-run shelter facilities.
According to sources, the officer has now approached the Allahabad High Court seeking the cancellation of an FIR registered against him.
The official, currently serving as the District Probation Officer (DPO) in Saharanpur, has been at the centre of controversy for several years.
He was earlier suspended in connection with allegations linked to an alleged sex trafficking racket operating from a shelter home in Deoria in 2018.
The matter had attracted widespread attention and raised concerns about the safety and oversight of vulnerable children living in institutional care.
Subsequently, additional allegations surfaced regarding the alleged exploitation and mistreatment of girls residing in a government-run shelter home.
Following reports and inquiries into the matter, the Divisional Commissioner of Saharanpur reportedly recommended the officer’s suspension and forwarded the recommendation to the state government for further action.
Given the seriousness of the accusations, an Anti-Corruption Court is said to have directed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) to facilitate a formal investigation into the allegations.
The case has since remained under public and administrative scrutiny.
Sources now indicate that the officer is seeking legal relief through the Allahabad High Court and has filed a petition requesting that the FIR be quashed.
The move has generated renewed debate over accountability, transparency, and the functioning of institutions responsible for child welfare and protection.
The development has also sparked concern among residents and social activists.
Many believe that allegations involving the safety and well-being of children deserve a thorough and impartial investigation.
They argue that any attempt to halt legal proceedings before a complete inquiry is conducted could undermine public confidence in both the justice system and child protection mechanisms.
Several civil society groups have called for a fair, transparent, and independent probe into the matter.
They maintain that the truth must be established through due legal process and that any individuals found responsible should be held accountable in accordance with the law.
The case continues to draw attention across the district, with many residents closely watching the legal proceedings.
Public sentiment remains focused on ensuring justice, safeguarding children’s rights, and strengthening institutional accountability to prevent similar incidents in the future.
