Two Tragic Deaths in Uttar Pradesh: Young Lawyer Dies by Suicide in Kanpur, Accused Found Dead in Hathras Police Station
A deeply distressing incident unfolded in Kanpur, where a 23-year-old lawyer, Priyanshu Srivastava, died after jumping from the fifth floor of a court building. The incident has left the legal fraternity and local community shaken.
According to police, Priyanshu was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately after the fall, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
What makes the tragedy even more painful is the note he left behind, revealing years of emotional distress and strained family relationships.
Final Message Reveals Years of Emotional Struggle
Just moments before taking the extreme step, Priyanshu posted a WhatsApp status featuring a handwritten letter.
In it, he spoke about what he described as prolonged mental harassment by his father, dating back to his childhood.
He recounted an incident from when he was just six years old, saying he was punished harshly for taking mango juice without permission.
According to his note, such experiences left a lasting emotional impact, shaping his sense of self and contributing to an enduring inferiority complex.
Priyanshu wrote about feeling constantly questioned and controlled over even the smallest aspects of his life.
He claimed his father’s expectations forced him into academic choices he did not want, leading to poor performance and further criticism. He also alleged frequent verbal abuse and public humiliation.
In his final words, he expressed a sense of suffocation and helplessness, stating that he could no longer cope with the emotional burden.
Despite the accusations, he requested that no legal action be taken against his father, saying he did not want his family to suffer.
Police Investigation Underway in Kanpur Case
Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyajeet Gupta confirmed that CCTV footage shows Priyanshu speaking on the phone shortly before the incident. Colleagues described him as a quiet and reserved individual.
The body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is ongoing to understand all aspects of the case.
Hathras Custodial Death: Accused Found Hanging in Police Station Washroom
In a separate and equally troubling incident in Hathras, a 27-year-old labourer, identified as Chandrapal, was found dead inside the washroom of a police station.
He had been arrested in connection with the alleged abduction of a minor girl. Police stated that he died by suicide, though the circumstances are now under scrutiny.

Negligence Alleged: SHO and Constable Suspended
Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha confirmed that the Station House Officer and a constable on duty have been suspended for negligence. A formal case has also been registered to probe the custodial lapse.
According to officials, Chandrapal had asked to use the washroom while in custody.
When he did not return for several minutes, police entered and allegedly found him hanging. Senior officers were immediately informed.
Minor Girl Rescued, Investigation Timeline Emerges
The case began on April 16 when the girl’s father filed a kidnapping complaint. During the investigation, police tracked phone records and identified Chandrapal, who was reportedly in contact with the girl through social media.
The girl, a Class XI student, was later located in Ghaziabad and safely brought back. She has since been placed in a government protection home for care and supervision.
Police stated that the girl recorded a statement against the accused, which Chandrapal allegedly came to know shortly before his death.
Two Incidents, One Grim Reminder
Both incidents—though unrelated—highlight deeply concerning issues. One reflects the silent burden of emotional distress and mental health struggles, while the other raises serious questions about custodial safety and police accountability.
Authorities have initiated investigations in both cases, but the tragedies have already left behind grieving families and unsettling questions that demand attention.
