In a strategic move to attract global investment in the defence manufacturing sector, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh is currently visiting Athens, Greece, along with a high-level delegation of senior officials and defence industry experts.

The visit is part of the state’s continued efforts to promote the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor on the international stage.

On Tuesday, Chief Secretary Singh inaugurated the Indian Pavilion at a prestigious international defence exhibition in Athens, joined by India’s Ambassador to Greece, Rudendra Tandon.

The pavilion also features a dedicated segment showcasing the potential of the UP Defence Corridor, aiming to highlight the state’s industrial strengths, investment-friendly policies, and upcoming opportunities in the defence sector.

As part of the visit, Singh and his team held several meetings with potential investors and foreign defence firms, outlining the strategic advantages of investing in Uttar Pradesh, including state incentives, skilled workforce availability, and robust infrastructure under development across the corridor.

The UP delegation includes six senior officials, such as Secretary to the Chief Minister Amit Kumar Singh and Srihari Pratap Shahi, Additional CEO of the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), among others.

These officers are playing a key role in promoting the state’s vision for becoming a leading hub for defence production and exports.

During the exhibition, Chief Secretary Singh chaired multiple round-table discussions with representatives from the governments of Greece and Armenia.

Both countries expressed strong interest in collaborating with Indian defence companies, signalling emerging opportunities for joint ventures, technology transfers, and industrial partnerships.

According to officials, the three-day event — which concludes on May 8 — has drawn participation from over 35 countries, with a wide range of displays featuring the latest in defence innovation and military technology.

The Indian Pavilion has attracted significant attention from international delegations, helping position Uttar Pradesh as a crucial contributor to India’s defence manufacturing ambitions.

“This international outreach is expected to open new doors for strategic alliances, R&D collaborations, and foreign direct investment in the defence sector,” said a senior UP official. “It further strengthens Uttar Pradesh’s standing as a rising powerhouse in India’s defence industrial ecosystem.”
