India confirmed on Thursday that its armed forces carried out precision strikes on multiple Pakistani Air Defence Radars and systems, following a wave of military aggression by Pakistan in both Northern and Western regions of India.

According to an official press release from the Indian government, Pakistan attempted to strike military targets in 15 Indian cities, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. However, the Indian Army successfully thwarted all attempted attacks.

These attempted strikes came a day after India conducted missile operations on May 7 as part of Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Among the key sites hit were Jaish-e-Mohammad’s base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s facility in Muridke.

The operation was carried out in direct retaliation for the brutal killing of 26 civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

In the wake of Pakistan’s failed missile and drone attacks, India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems successfully intercepted and neutralised the threats.

The recovery of debris from multiple sites across India confirmed Pakistan’s involvement in the offensive.

As a countermeasure, on May 8, 2025, the Indian Armed Forces executed targeted strikes on Pakistan’s air defence infrastructure. The Indian government clarified that the retaliation was measured and proportionate to the scale of Pakistan’s attempted aggression.

In addition to aerial threats, Pakistan intensified unprovoked artillery fire along the Line of Control Loc), shelling sectors in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri.

The bombardment led to the deaths of 16 Indian civilians, including three women and five children.

In response to these provocations, India launched targeted operations to silence the Pakistani artillery and protect civilian populations along the border.

While reaffirming its commitment to peace and de-escalation, India stressed that continued provocations would compel it to take necessary defensive actions.

The government emphasised that safeguarding national sovereignty and the safety of its citizens remains a top priority.
