Uttar Pradesh Braces for Extreme Heatwave as Temperatures May Touch 50°C, Warm Nights to Add to Public Discomfort

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is set to witness an intense spell of scorching heat over the coming days, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 50 degrees Celsius in several districts.

Weather experts have warned that there is little possibility of relief in the immediate future, as both daytime and nighttime temperatures are likely to remain unusually high.

According to the Meteorological Department, severe heatwave conditions are expected to continue across large parts of the state.

Officials have advised people to avoid stepping outdoors unnecessarily during peak afternoon hours and to take extra precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.

The weather department has issued a red alert for several districts, warning residents about the possibility of extremely high temperatures and dangerous heat conditions.

Apart from daytime heat, nights are also expected to remain uncomfortably warm, increasing the risk of dehydration, fatigue, and heatstroke, particularly among children, elderly people, and those working outdoors.

Meteorologists said hot winds sweeping across the region and the absence of significant cloud cover are intensifying the heatwave.

Cities including Prayagraj, Kanpur, Varanasi, Jhansi, Banda, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, and surrounding districts are likely to witness the harshest conditions in the coming days.

In many parts of the state, temperatures have already crossed 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. Banda recorded one of the highest temperatures at around 46.2 degrees Celsius, while Prayagraj also remained severely hot with temperatures hovering close to 46 degrees.

Jhansi, Kanpur Dehat, and nearby regions continued to experience extreme heat throughout the day.

The prolonged heatwave has also started affecting daily life across Uttar Pradesh. Roads and marketplaces remained relatively deserted during the afternoon hours as people preferred staying indoors to escape the intense sun.

Hospitals have also advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to sunlight, and immediately seek medical attention in case of dizziness, dehydration, or heat exhaustion symptoms.

Weather officials have further warned that hot and dry conditions may continue for the next few days, with no major rainfall activity expected in most regions.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged district administrations to remain alert and prepared for heat-related emergencies.
