Writer Mahesh Pandey, best known for his work on popular television serial Kasautii Zindagi Kay, was arrested on August 7 by the Bombay police for allegedly cheating film producer Jatin Sethi to the tune of Rs. 2.65 crore.
Sethi alleged that Mahesh had violated the terms and conditions of an agreement between their companies, leading to a financial loss of Rs. 2.65 crore. Acting on the complaint, the Bombay police registered a case of cheating and subsequently took Pandey into custody on August 7. He was then produced before the court which remanded him to judicial custody.
The complaint said that Pandey’s company was contractually obligated to pay Sethi’s company Rs. 2.65 crore but failed to do so. Jatin Sethi accused Mahesh Pandey of employing delaying tactics to avoid making the payment and citing various reasons for the delay. Sethi has alleged that Pandey even created a fake email id and used it to fabricate communications with a broadcaster, claiming that the payment was being processed but was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
