PM Modi Warns of Global Crisis as US Weighs Fresh Military Action Against Iran

During his visit to the Netherlands as part of his five-nation diplomatic tour, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned that the world is currently facing an unprecedented series of global challenges that could severely impact humanity if left unresolved.

Addressing members of the Indian diaspora in The Hague, Modi said the international community has moved from one crisis to another in recent years, beginning with the Covid-19 pandemic, followed by wars, and now a deepening energy crisis.

The Prime Minister cautioned that the current decade risks becoming an “era of disasters” for the world.

He stressed that unless global conflicts are brought to an end quickly, economic instability and humanitarian suffering could worsen dramatically.

According to Modi, the progress achieved over several decades could be reversed, pushing millions of people back into poverty and uncertainty.

Highlighting the importance of international cooperation, Modi said India and the Netherlands are working closely to build reliable, transparent, and future-ready supply chains capable of withstanding global disruptions.

He noted that recent geopolitical tensions and economic shocks have exposed vulnerabilities in international trade networks, making resilient supply systems more critical than ever.

Speaking about India’s growth trajectory, Modi described the country as a land of immense opportunity in the 21st century.

He said modern India is driven not only by technology and innovation but also by a deep commitment to humanity and inclusive development.

Emphasising the country’s transformation, Modi remarked that India is becoming increasingly modern while remaining deeply connected to its ancient civilisational roots.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the aspirations of India’s younger generation, saying the country is dreaming bigger than ever before.

He noted that Indian youth are determined to achieve global excellence and no longer wish to settle for gradual progress.

“India does not just want change; it wants the best, and it wants the fastest,” Modi said, adding that the nation’s growing ambitions are matched by equally determined efforts.

Drawing a symbolic comparison between India and the Netherlands, Modi referred to the Netherlands’ global fame for tulips and India’s cultural association with the lotus.

He said both flowers represent beauty, resilience, and strength, regardless of whether their roots grow in water or soil, reflecting the shared values of endurance and growth between the two nations.

Meanwhile, geopolitical tensions involving Iran and the United States continue to escalate.

According to media reports from Washington, the US administration may once again consider military action against Tehran amid concerns over Iran’s plans to impose charges on vessels passing through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Reports suggest that pressure is mounting on US President Donald Trump to take a firm stance on Iran following his recent visit to China.

Sources quoted in media reports claimed that the Trump administration has begun preparations to potentially revive “Operation Epic Fury,” although no final decision has yet been announced by the White House.

The reports further stated that Trump rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal during his return from China.

The US President reportedly discussed the Iran issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping and urged Beijing to increase pressure on Tehran as tensions in the region continue to rise.
