Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna has reiterated the state’s firm stance against crime, stating that law enforcement agencies will continue to act decisively against offenders.
Addressing the media in Lucknow, he emphasized that the safety and security of citizens remain the government’s top priority.
Strong Message to Criminals
The DGP made it clear that police personnel will not hesitate to respond when faced with armed resistance.
He stated that if criminals open fire on law enforcement officers, the police will take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
According to him, maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of citizens requires a proactive and determined approach toward crime control.
Focus on Women’s Safety
Rajeev Krishna highlighted the government’s efforts to improve women’s safety across the state.
He noted that a number of initiatives have been implemented to create a safer environment for women and girls.
As a result, crimes against women have reportedly shown a significant decline, with officials claiming a reduction of nearly 33 percent in recent years.
Rising Cybercrime Remains a Major Concern
The DGP acknowledged that cybercrime continues to pose a growing challenge. To address this issue, the police department has intensified efforts to track cyber offenders and strengthen digital security mechanisms.
Specialized teams are working to identify and dismantle networks involved in online fraud, financial scams, and other cyber-related offences.
Citizens Advised to Use Cyber Helpline 1930
Urging the public to remain vigilant, Krishna advised victims of online fraud to immediately contact the national cybercrime helpline, 1930.
He explained that quick reporting can significantly improve the chances of preventing financial losses.
According to him, cybercriminals often attempt to transfer stolen funds rapidly, making swift action crucial for recovery and investigation.
Dedicated Cyber Units Strengthened Across the State
To improve its response capabilities, the Uttar Pradesh Police has expanded its cybercrime infrastructure.
Dedicated cyber police stations, digital investigation units, and specialized technical teams have been equipped with advanced tools to combat online offences more effectively.
Authorities believe these measures will enhance the state’s ability to tackle increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Significant Financial Recoveries Reported
Officials revealed that cybercrime units have successfully helped recover substantial amounts of money lost to online fraud in recent years.
The department has also intensified its crackdown on organized cybercrime syndicates, including those involved in phishing scams, fake investment schemes, identity theft, and fraudulent digital transactions.
Beyond Arrests: Emphasis on Prevention and Awareness
The DGP stressed that the state’s strategy is not limited to arresting offenders. Police are also focusing on public awareness campaigns aimed at educating people about cyber risks and preventive measures.
By encouraging citizens to recognize warning signs and report suspicious activity quickly, authorities hope to reduce the number of victims falling prey to online scams.
Technology and Public Cooperation Key to Success
Rajeev Krishna concluded by emphasizing that combating modern crime requires a combination of advanced technology, effective policing, and active public participation.
He urged citizens to stay alert while using digital platforms and assured them that the police remain committed to protecting both physical and online safety throughout Uttar Pradesh.
