Keshav Prasad Maurya Honors Shiksha Mitras in Prayagraj, Announces Rs 18,000 Monthly Honorarium and Cashless Medical Facility

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday visited the residence of former MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi to express condolences on the demise of her husband, P.C. Joshi.

Offering his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, Maurya said the Bharatiya Janata Party functions like a family and stands firmly with its members during moments of grief and personal loss.

He prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the family to cope with the tragedy.

Later in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister attended a workers’ meeting at the Circuit House in Prayagraj after receiving a warm welcome from BJP workers at the Police Line helipad.

During the organisational meeting, Maurya urged party workers and leaders to strengthen the BJP at the grassroots level and begin preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections with full dedication and unity.

Several senior party leaders and public representatives attended the meeting, including city BJP president Sanjay Gupta, Gangapar district president Nirmala Paswan, Yamunapar president Rajesh Shukla, Kashi region vice-president Avadhesh Chandra Gupta, MP Praveen Patel, MLA Guru Prasad Maurya, and Rajmani Kol, among others.

Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated the Shiksha Mitra Samman Samaroh organised at the District Panchayat Auditorium in Prayagraj.

During the programme, he symbolically distributed cheques reflecting the increased monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 to 27 Shiksha Mitras.

Maurya also visited an art exhibition organised by the Basic Education Department, where children displayed creative artworks and cultural performances.

Presentations by schoolchildren and specially-abled students received appreciation from the audience and added a vibrant touch to the event.

A live telecast of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s programme from Gorakhpur was also shown during the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Maurya announced that from April 2026 onwards, Shiksha Mitras across the state would receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 along with the benefit of cashless medical treatment facilities.

Congratulating the Shiksha Mitras, he said their contribution towards shaping the future of children and strengthening the education system is invaluable.

“The role of teachers and Shiksha Mitras in building the future generation is extremely important.

The youth of today will decide the future direction of the state and the country and will play a crucial role in realising the vision of a developed India,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the transformation in government schools since 2017.

He said that under the state government’s ‘Operation Kayakalp’ initiative, significant improvements have been made in basic infrastructure and educational facilities in government-run schools.

According to him, these reforms have restored public confidence in the government education system and encouraged parents to enrol their children in state schools.

He noted that nearly 20 lakh new students had been enrolled during the first phase of the state’s enrolment campaign.

Maurya further stressed the need to improve the quality of education in government schools to such an extent that private institutions are unable to overshadow them.

“There should be such quality-driven education in government schools that public trust becomes even stronger and private schools are unable to create barriers,” he said.

He added that education remains one of the strongest pillars for nation-building and that empowering students through quality learning will be essential in achieving the dream of a developed and self-reliant nation.

Keshav Prasad Maurya Targets Opposition After BJP Wins in Bengal and Assam, Calls for 2027 Poll Preparations

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday congratulated BJP workers for the party’s victory in West Bengal and Assam and urged them to begin preparations immediately for the 2027 elections.

Speaking to the media during his visit to Prayagraj, Maurya said the election results reflected the public’s rejection of parties that opposed the Women’s Reservation Bill, also known as the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.

He alleged that parties such as the Indian National Congress, All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had insulted women and obstructed efforts aimed at strengthening women’s rights and political representation.

“The people of the country have given a strong reply to those parties that opposed the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. These parties worked against the interests and rights of women,” Maurya said.

Replying to questions from journalists at the Police Line helipad, the Deputy Chief Minister also criticised opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav for raising questions over the Election Commission following recent poll results.

He claimed that the opposition’s criticism of the electoral process stemmed from political frustration after repeated defeats.

“Their statements against the Election Commission are a reflection of their frustration,” he remarked.

Maurya further accused opposition parties of promoting caste-based politics, dynastic rule, and corruption during their time in power.

According to him, voters are now making informed decisions after carefully evaluating the performance and intentions of political parties.

“The public sees everything and delivers its verdict after weighing all factors carefully,” he said.

Taking a direct swipe at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Maurya said that whichever political force receives his support eventually faces political decline.

Referring to the recent West Bengal election results, he claimed that the Samajwadi Party leadership was now in shock.

He also predicted that the Samajwadi Party would face a worse electoral outcome in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections than what the TMC and DMK experienced in their respective states.

The Deputy Chief Minister additionally accused the Congress of indulging in what he described as “minority appeasement politics,” alleging that the party ignores the sentiments of the majority community while pursuing vote-bank politics.

Maurya’s remarks come amid intensified political activity across the country following the recent Assembly election results, with parties already beginning to position themselves for the next round of major electoral battles, including the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections.
