Yogi Adityanath Says Modern Warfare Extends Beyond Borders, Calls Cyber and Space Security the New Frontline
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that modern warfare is no longer confined to land, air, and sea, asserting that the nature of global conflict has dramatically evolved in recent years.
Addressing the concluding session of the three-day NorthTech Symposium at the Cobra Auditorium in New Cantt, the Chief Minister stressed that even a keyboard can now become a weapon in the age of digital warfare.
Highlighting the changing security landscape, Adityanath said nations must not only strengthen their combat capabilities but also build robust systems to protect critical defence infrastructure and communication networks.
He noted that the world has entered the era of “multi-domain operations,” where cyberspace, satellites, electronic spectrum, and signal intelligence play a decisive role in warfare.
“The scope of war has expanded significantly. Battles today are increasingly being fought through data and signals,” he said, underlining the need for advanced security mechanisms to counter emerging threats.
Referring to the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, the Chief Minister pointed out how modern conflicts now involve disrupting an adversary’s power grids, radar systems, GPS networks, banking infrastructure, and communication channels.
At the same time, he said, safeguarding one’s own digital and strategic assets from cyber attacks has become equally important.
He emphasised that future preparedness would require countries to invest not only in offensive capabilities but even more in defensive frameworks capable of withstanding sophisticated technological attacks.
Praising the armed forces for their unwavering commitment, Adityanath said the nation remains secure because of the vigilance and sacrifice of soldiers stationed in some of the world’s harshest terrains.
Whether in the freezing conditions of Siachen Glacier, the scorching deserts, dense forests, or challenging maritime and aerial zones, he said Indian soldiers continue to serve with unmatched dedication.
“They remain awake so that the nation can sleep peacefully,” the Chief Minister remarked, paying tribute to the courage and alertness of the armed forces.
